Were there any Victory models without a “v” in the serial?

No. Guns with "United States Property" stamped on the topstrap are Lend/Lease. LL guns began shipping in Fall 1941 before the US entered WWII. The V wasn't added to the serial number until ~April 1942 when serials reached 999,999.

    32 & 38 Regulation Police

S&W suspended stamping the trademark for WWI and didn't resume until 1920. Any refinish tends to lower the value. IIRC, at one time, the Standard Catalog of S&W stated a factory refinished gun's condition should not be valued over Very Good. I haven't looked lately to see if that guidance is in...

    32 & 38 Regulation Police

ccnv, post pictures of your RP's. I see .38 RP's with serials around yours shipping in late 1917 or early 1918. If both guns have gold medallion grips, the .32 likely shipped in 1919. Does it have a trademark stamp? S&W began heat treating the cylinders in 1920.

    Help identifying please

That is a Model 1899 made late in the manufacturing period. Probably shipped in 1902. Original grips would likely have been black hard rubber. The Model 1899 was the first .38 M&P chambered for the .38 S&W Special. I see a caliber stamp but it reads .38 S&W. That's odd to me.

    Help with another identification please

    It is/was chambered for .38 S&W, a lanyard swivel and 5" barrel. US .38 M&P's were chambered for .38 S&W Special and 4" barrel.

Looking for info on late grandfathers revolver

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! It's a .32 Hand Ejector, 2nd Model and you have the date range correct. The mother-of-pearl grips are aftermarket. The finish looks like it has been Parkerized or, perhaps, it has just gone to a patina. Value is +/- $300.

    Help with another identification please

Welcome to the forums from the cotton and peanut covered plains of the Wiregrass! That is a WWII .38 Military & Police British Service Revolver likely shipped in 1940. The grips are from the 1920's. It was originally chambered for .38 S&W but likely has been reamed for .38 Special. If you can...

    Help with 32. Identifying

Welcome to the forums from the Peanut Capital of the World in the heart of the Wiregrass! It is a .32 Hand Ejector built on the Improved I Frame. It likely shipped in 1952. These are fun guns to shoot but the grip may be a tad small for male hands. If you want something that fills your hand, J...

    Fishhook hammer

I've not heard that nomenclature before after lurking around for 13 years. I've commented before that the "fishhook" hammer looks more like a tomcat's tail to me than a fishhook. But, for some unknown reason, my terminology was ignored...

    Pre War K frame

Definitely refinished. It was a good job, though. The telltales are the blued ejector rod knob face as Elroy points out and the polishing down of the rebound slide stud. Before WWII, the stud and other pins were proud of the frame. There is no indication on the side of the grip frame that it...

    Help me identify this revolver

I believe this gun is built on the New I Frame which launched in 1953. You should see similarities with the Model 1953 .22/32 Kit Gun. Based on other known serial numbers, I believe this gun shipped in 1955.

The serial on those stocks doesn't match the gun. As Gary said, your gun should have silver medallion stocks.

    Screwdriver dating

Marcello, that's a good looking screwdriver. But, it doesn't appear to be a S&W sight adjustment tool.

    Pre War K frame

I want to see the rebound slide stud. I do see what appears to be polishing striations but can't tell if it is surface oil or metal irregularities. Also want to eliminate service work.

    Pre-Model 10 ID

Gil is correct. The terminology "Pre-model" is collector-speak to identify a gun that is in most respects identical to a model-marked gun, but predates the model number system. Your gun cannot be a "pre-model" because it has the older long-throw action and lacks a hammer block safety, among...

    Pre-Model 10 ID

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Based on other serial numbers I see, it likely shipped in 1913. It is not a Pre-Model 10, though, as those were not produced before 1948. Some here would call it a Model 1902 since it has a round butt. Practically speaking, it is a .38 Military & Police...

Nice looking .38 M&P Target! Guns with nearby serials were shipping in September 1935.
