    RANGE REPORT RUGER LCP MAX

I have a fair number of .380 pistols and an earlier version, the LCP (non-max). I got it mostly because it was on sale and I wanted a low-cost ammo burner. It does, however, have really good sights and a decent trigger.

    SCSW 5 Edition-poor binding?

Mine seems to be OK though I often still use the 4th edition. The slightly larger and sharper type face on the old one is easier for me to read.

    RANGE REPORT RUGER LCP MAX

I bought a RUGER LCP Max .380 automatic a few days ago from Turner Outdoorsman, who had a pretty good sale going on them. I have an older version of the LCP and a ton of .380 ammo so it seemed like a good deal. I took it home, field stripped and cleaned it, and took it out today and shot it...

    Afraid of AI?

I am not yet fearful but I am apprehensive. If these things ever become truly self-aware then I would become fearful. SKYNET.

    Iron Verus Modern Sights

Are iron sights necessarily unmodern? I beg to differ. I have several current product handguns that have iron sights.

New to me 686 no dash (Oakland PD) 4"

Not too many Oakland PD marked guns out there. For a long time Oakland has had an official policy of destroying "surplus" guns as they may be used in crimes if they are sold. About the only ones out there are guns purchased by retiring officers. I'm sure Oakland wouldn't do that either but CA...

How the Brits deal with extreme speeders

The limeys have an issue with dangerously stupid driving. I guess they figure if you are rich enough to drive a Lambo you are rich enough to not be an idiot and endanger others. It works for me. They just pulled "Hermione Granger's" license for chronic speeding.

    32 WCF Revolver

Yup Muleygirl, you are right. I picked it up as a M&P and not a 32-20. My bad. Too much Green Death for lunch.

    Wanna impress your buddies?

That truly is a bridge too far for me, or anybody else with any level of taste at all.

    32 WCF Revolver

Unless you roll your own or have deep pockets the 32-20 is difficult. Assuming I am reading the standard catalog right that one went out the door in about 1909, plus or minus a year or so. I am confident better info will come along soon. I have three or four of them, including a Colt Army and...

5 Screw Highway Patrolman, hope I did alright on the deal.

I would have paid that for it and I don't need another one. You done good.

Just a little bit off, but I bought it any way.

KS Charlie, I will be very much surprised if my two do not spec out pretty much like your two. Thanks for the info.

Just a little bit off, but I bought it any way.

THIS IS WHY YOU TAKE THE GRIPS OFF. I did a little more research and applied Occam's Razor. I then went back to the gun store this morning and said, "We have to take the grips off." Sure enough, the CORRECT serial number is the numbers on the barrel and cylinder, K 81247. Not only now do...

Just a little bit off, but I bought it any way.

I have not had the grips off yet and do not yet have physical possession of the gun. Target Masterpiece is a post-1940 designation from S&W. It was a K-frame, usually square butt, usually six inch barrel but always longer than 4 inches. Click adjustable sights. Short action. Anti-backlash...

Just a little bit off, but I bought it any way.

No K. Significantly ribbed barrel. Both cylinder and barrel match numbers to each other but not to the frame. That's why I am guessing it may have been converted from .32 or .32-20 to .38 Special at the factory. I am likely to letter it just to find out how it left the factory. I will make...

Just a little bit off, but I bought it any way.

I have been eyeballing this at my favorite LGS/Range for some little while and finally decided to jump. It appears to be a pre-war Targetmaster, Serial # 47xxx. Pretty nice shape. Timed correctly. Nothing obviously buggered up. It will be a shooter. It is strange in one regard. The...

Caliber wars (or stirring the pot ;) )

The .380 has, due to improvements in bullet design and powders, moved from submarginal to decent for SD, IMHO, for what that may be worth to you. Shot placement is #1. Adequate penetration is #2. If you can hit with it, the .380 will do the job much of the time. If you can't, it won't.
