The unavoidable gun fight. Are you confident with your handgun choice?

That is why: I used to be a people person, Then I met people. As I get older it makes me more of a target for people. That is why I carry a firearm. Some targets shoot back because the others have become targets due to their criminal actions.

Well, you are technically correct, but what is your point? How many confrontations have you been in, and survived? How many times have you been shot and survived? Mr Muss, you have no point. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. That's it. This conversation is over.

That is some really good shooting. Many of the people on Army and Marine Corps teams could clean the National Match course with scores of 800/800 and a bunch of Xs. I was never able to do that. The closest I ever came was 792/800 dropping the points in the 300 yard standing to prone rapid fire...

Believe what you want, by whomever was writing that bullshit, probably to make you feel better about having your M16 capable of 400 yards vs only 300 for the AK. Just like they say a M14 is incapable of engaging a target at 800 yards/meters. It was done quite often with much success. At 1000...

Your apology is accepted. As for the chip, when men quit running down women and their accomplishments, I will gladly let one of you brush it off my shoulder.

Well there you go making rash assumptions again so let me unconfuse you. I am female, back then I was 5'11" and in as good shape or better than a good portion of the men I served with. I was issued firearms because I demonstrated the ability to use one of them effectively. I did not haul my...

In this situation there may not be a good solution, and it all depends on your situational awareness and location. The clerk had the attention of the shooter the moment that he walked into the store. The shot in the air was to intimidate anyone around, the clerk going for his gun sealed his...

The gun you wish you could carry but,...

I learned to shoot a handgun from my dad at 14, shooting a S&W Model 19. I learned to shoot a M1911 in the Army. The one that I would much prefer to carry is my Colt Gold Cup National Match. It's too big to carry next to impossible to hide. The carrying is left to either my Kimber Micro 9 or...

The unavoidable gun fight. Are you confident with your handgun choice?

I take care to avoid situations where I might come into contact with a violent criminal offender, but these days it can happen about anywhere. As for violent offenders, there were a lot of them during two tours in Viet Nam. I never counted, but there were probably at least 50, maybe close to a...

Unlike others, I don't drive from the back seat nor give advice on something that I know nothing about. That would be like talking through your butt, and we all know what comes out of the butt and it doesn't smell all that good.

In the moment when something unexpected happens that requires you to draw your firearm there are a couple of things that will kill you. The first and most prominent is hesitation. He or She who hesitates, will lose. The next thing will be wondering what will happen during the encounter? Now is...

I first shot the M14 during basic training in 1965, and immediately fell in love with it. I qualified as M14 Expert out of basic. After AIT I ended up in Viet Nam (no surprise there) and since I had qualified as Expert was issued a M14 to be used for airfield defense during mortar or ground...

On the pro side, longer sight radius, somewhat increased velocity. On the con side, beyond 6 inches and the balance is off making it more difficult to shoot. Harder to draw from a holster.

    Priming Tool Recommendations

All I use is the RCBS hand priming tool. I got the universal one so changing the shell holders is not required. I have had no issues with it and been using it for probably 20+ years now in one variation or another. I actually have two, one set up for small primers, the other for large.

The unavoidable gun fight. Are you confident with your handgun choice?

No, not actually. It seems entirely wrong. Nobody can say when they will be called on to either defend themselves or others. Those of us who carry legally know that when something happens, it will happen without any chance of knowing when and where. To not care is to find yourself, or others...

To shoot in Glocks GSSF Pro competitions you need to shoot a Glock handgun with only Glock parts, nothing aftermarket. Since most of the so called performance products are internal I believe that there is much going on with the pistols used in these competitions, that can oly be identified by a...

    Alternative to .38 Special Recoil

All in all, this forum is getting boring. Instead of dealing with facts, the pros and cons of individual firearms. It seems that everyone here is dealing with their own personal opinion and if the facts, or laws for that matter do not agree with their opinion then they say the heck with the...

Well that of course is sort of a nonsensical question. Under no circumstances do you want to injure an innocent person. As it has been said many times, do what you have to do, and ask for forgiveness later. I don't know the law in your area, but if someone thinks that not shooting an innocent...

The unavoidable gun fight. Are you confident with your handgun choice?

Well, that is all well and good. However, you might want to check your state and local laws prior to taking such a glib response. In some localities, just the act of carrying a firearm into a place posted, "FIREARMS PROHIBITED," is against the law. You can be arrested for having a firearm on...

    Alternative to .38 Special Recoil

I do not profess to be an expert witness, and I try to stay out of any legal proceedings. Have I testified in court? Yes, several times, it was for the prosecution in a non firearm related issues. I can probably say that you would not want me testifying in court since my training and viewpoints...
