While I am not a LEO, this sounds like the best advice. I carry my 5906 on occasion and rotate it with my various 1911's. It is very easy to turn off the safety as you are drawing.

I have the 5906 with Crimson Trace grips. It is a great shooter and all metal. Yes it is heavy but I am not a big fan of plastic guns.

I still carry mine. This gun has really grown on me. It's heavy but I hate plastic guns. All I carry is different size 1911's, 5906 and sometimes my Bersa UC9 which is a very nice shooter. The Wenol took out some small scratches as well.
