SWAT hit on wrong house update

One could make comments about the vetting process for command officers. And FWIW, my training here is that incompetence is enough for Brady/Giglio (what is called Potential Impeachment Disclosure) by the prosecutors association. WSP has had to be trained and re-trained on this; the screw it up...

    Uniform Hat/Cap

    1) Fitness standards should not be negotiable, and if one studies the actual performance needs, in almost all of LE the standards are somewhere in the range of too low to laughable. The food blister units look like a conflict waiting to be lost. 2). I am opposed to hats and never wore one...

SWAT hit on wrong house update

The information as to ownership being that stale does not speak well of the quality of work. It is likely not only a pretty severe discipline issue, but a Brady/Giglio issue.

Police get a new tool to stop drivers: Beware the Grappler!

Far safer than most pursuits and the PIT technique (although if only the offender is injured, which is not at all assured, my level of concern is immeasurably small). Using any type of force to overcome resistance is never going to be pretty. It does not have to be. It does need to be effective.

    Another LEOSA qualification…

Argh. Pedantic lawyer issue. There is no longer anything valid about calling this HR218; that label went away once the statute was enacted. For active officers, the correct citation is 18USC 926(b); for retirees, 18 USC 926(c). No other citation is valid. The course here is pretty easy...

Shot my first Glock model 26 today, here are my thoughts and impressions......

I had a 26 for a few years and replaced it with a 33. My primary carry method by far was pocket carry in a Kramer holster. I have been using that method for decades and found it to work very well. I don't wear jeans any more, using some form of cargo pants instead. I am conspicuously "unarmed"...

    3914DAO from WisconsinTransfers came in

As far as I know, NYPD does not and never has (at least in recent times) issued sidearms. They have an approved list and officers buy from that that list at the NYPD equipment section. Mr. Vivas can give a real expert's answer.

First time firing my 360 PD bad experience

Most of us mere mortals are better served by using standard pressure heavy (ish) (158-170 grain) SWC in most .38/.357 revolvers, especially the little J frames. Regardless of any danger to the firearm, anything heavier than my suggestion/preference is likely to be too unpleasant to shoot enough...

Need help with 10-7 revolver, cannot load shells.

Given where you are, I would consider reaching out to member "BMCM". He is retired USCG Master Chief and a machinist by training who has become a gunsmith. He is located in Mississippi and I doubt it is more than a day's drive to his shop. I have had him do a few things; the work was well done...

Underwood Ammo and Freedom Munitions PSA - Update Post 16

I wonder if the shortages of components are or have been limiting their ability to get primers that function better.

    S&W 6906, Glocks and P320's for Carry

Every bit of professional firearms training shows that an empty chamber is not a good path. If you are not comfortable carry any platform with a chambered round, sell it and get/use something else with which you are comfortable. The 3rd generation S&Ws seem to be fine guns but that the...

Well I think I have a new nick name "Elmer Fudd"

I don't think your quest is silly. You have invested a good bit in these pistols and coming up with ammo suited to the purpose and overcoming the issues you perceived seems like a wise task. Those pistols have no interest to me for my life, but they do for you and making them work for your...

How Many '1988 Special' Model 66-3 Were Made?

Why ruin a good carry gun with the full lug barrel? I have a 4" M66 that was run butted for me by BMCM. It is a real good carry package, and the only possible improvement would be a 3" barrel (which is not worth the cost to me to find out).

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

    * Hard to go elsewhere at the point he describes. "Bladed off" probably refers to dropping your non-dominant side leg back for balance, similar to the martial arts/boxer stance, or a Weaver technique stance.

The Air Force Has Completed its Inspection of their SIG M18 Service Pistols

There ia side issue of which I have recently become aware that sure makes for some interesting thoughts. Apparently Glock is holding back their models designed around the new Aimpoint RDS (COA, I think they call them) from the civilian market for at least two years due to really increased demand...

    Keg of old powder

I admit I am not (yet) a reader, but I read here a lot. Given the need for relatively precise knowledge of one's components, including powder, I am with those who advocate using it as fertilizer. The risk resulting from from inadequate knowledge of what you have ir greater than the risk of an...

    Splendid behavior.

When I was discharged from the hospital after my transplant, I made a point of going to the nurses' station and made a point of telling the nurse lead (first line supervisor) and all those present how well I had been cared for by the nurses who took care of me. Little stuff like that matters to...

    Radio silence.

My kidney disease resulted in last month's transplant, and there were various things done along the way to ensure success. I have had very good treatment by the docs and other white coats (PAs, ARNPs) and good after care by nurses. I am confident you will do as well based on how you describe...

Revolver vs. Semi Auto for CCW

The majority of my training was in LE with semi-auto pistols, so my familiarity and proficiency are with those. I can and have qualified with revolvers, but in the real world they are not as good for me. I generally dislike J frames, so they are not a real option. My primary carry gun is a Glock...

Master Revolver Action Package: Yes or No?

About 20-odd years ago, I bought an M66 from our Explorer post. I eventually did have that work done, and it was great. What that means TODAY, I dunno.
