Why start a new thread…I’ve been using Titegroup for 38 Spl +P level loads in 357 Mag cases…it has fine utility in the 357 Magnum. I’m a single stage reloader (for 50 years) and load 25 at a time never keeping empty and charged cases together in same loading tray…I bring over the empty...

I prefer 38 Spl Full Wadcutter loads in my snubs with cast 148 gr DEWC…3.5 grs Bulleye or 4.0 grs W231. +P hollow points are reserved for longer barrels 4” and up.

Very good thread…I still like to use at times the old Lyman data for "38 Special, Heavy Frames Only" but always back off a bit. They work great as utility loads in my 357 Magnums. BTW, these were the old 38/44 level loads….but the argument “why use a hot 38 Spl when you have a 357 Mag” holds...

3.3 grs W231 148 gr cast DEWC 4.0 grs W231 158 gr Speer LSWC 4.7 grs W231 158 gr Speer LSWC (+P) If I had only one powder for all my 38 Special/38 Special +P needs with 158 grs lead bullets it would be W231 .

I used 5.6 grs Unique behind 148 gr cast DEWC in 357 Magnum cases…Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8…good punch to it and accurate

I like in my 4 inch S&W 586 and Ruger BH 4 5/8 inch 357s, 6.0 grs Power Pistol, CCI 500 primers behind coated cast 158 gr SWC or Speer’s 158 gr LSWC in Starline 38 Special +P cases…chronographs approximately 1,000 fps. My standard 38 Spl +P use 5.4-5.6 grs Power Pistol and same bullets...

Load with Full Wadcutters (DEWC). Speed-loaders with 158 Gr RNL…yes, that’s right for snub noses…loads quickly also

I like any of the Fed/Rem/Win FBI loads …Remington’s version probably the best one due to its softer metal.

For four inch revolvers rated for +P and 357 Mag…Remington’s 38 Special +P 158 gr LHP. Remington produces these in 20 round HTP boxes…they’re finally commonplace again and one heck of a good round.

Get a S&W 586…4” great all round. Couple that with 8.0 grs N350 and cast 158 gr SWC and you’ll be good to go!

Recently, I chronographed 6.7 grs Power Pistol behind 110 gr JHP (Zero Bullets) through my S&W 442 1 7/8”…avg 947 fps. 5.2 grs Titegroup with same bullet in same revolver avg 911 fps. …fun stuff Merry Xmas

…my 270 Win load is simple…Hornady’s 130 gr Interlock and 58 grs H4831. If I need a heavier bullet, I’ll take out my ‘06…

Great info, thanks! 1,200 fps with 158 gr SWC from a 3 inch is potent! I use 7.0 grs 158 gr SWC in magnum cases which clocks at 1,121 fps from my Ruger 4 5/8 inch Blackhawk. BE-86 is an excellent Unique substitute.

…I’m also going to check 125 gr weight bullets, these will be earmarked for a Ruger stainless SP101 which prefers extended range sessions with jacketed bullets as opposed to cast bullets. Like others, I’ve had binding of the stainless SP 101 using cast loads > 100 rounds…even after lubing...

I’m using Zero Bullets 158 gr JSPs…they can be had now in some cases less than various commercial grade cast bullets…

I increased, rounded my previous load from 6.7 grs to 7.0 grs BE-86 with 158 gr cast SWC in 357 Magnum cases. Duplicates the old 7.0 grs Unique loading. 7.0 grs BE-86 load yields 1,121 fps (12 shot string, ES 44, SD 12) in my Ruger 4 5/8 inch Blackhawk, and is super clean burning…cases...
