I prefer the 3rd Generation DAO pistols. I carried a 4553TSW for a few years, but removed the crappy rail so that it would fit the same holster as my 4556's. I still qualify with a 4546 and 4556 and carry one almost daily. The trick to using a hammer fired DAO is simple... learn how to shoot. 😉

With few exceptions, factory ammunition is garbage. They put anemic amounts of dirty powder under poorly made bullets. I stocked up on enough quality 9mm and 45 components years ago, when things were plentiful and inexpensive. I can keep handloading for years to come.

I've owned every pre-lock we 25 and 625 made, since 1988. This 625-4 with PC upgrades is the only one I've kept. Their action tuning is remarkable.

I heard about Trijicon dropping support a year ago, so I had new night sights installed on my pistols and spare slides while they were still available. They will continue to revamp existing sights.

The only way to remove Cerakote is to put it in and out of a holster a dozen times during qualification.

We had problems with the yellow follower mags during qualifications. When we did magazine save reloads, those wide feed lips would let the next round come loose. The later magazine feed lips with crimped sides and black followers corrected the problem.

Tapered barrels are for carrying a lot and shooting very little. Heavy barrels are for shooting a lot, especially during LE training and qualification.

Nice. The 3" and 4" came with nice ramp front sights. The 5" usually had patridge front sights, which would tear up holsters during qualifications.

Count me in for a 25 or 625 with a 5" barrel. Either cartridge is fine.
