That is my understanding as well. I don't believe that S&W kept a log of how many were produced, except in later years with the 'limited editions'. Registered Magnums and some other select models have been researched to death and have a better understanding of the total produced, but it is not...

$1000 is a buy-it-right-dang-now kind of price. I see them regularly @ $1500 and up.
