    DODO BIRD POWDER

I have read that Alliant is switching over to production of powder for artillery ammo and that canister powders will no longer be in production. Maybe they know something we do not about the need for that much artillery ammo. I hope it is not forever but at 71 years old I may not be around long...

.21 Sharp - new kid in town

Nope sticking with 22 LR. Nice sales pitch but I predict an early demise. If I were 50 years younger I would buy some ammo, a rifle never open it set it back and sell for $$$$ in a few years.

    A little humor

All so very true. I have only 71 years here in the promised land so I may have a few more of those that could pop out as needed. LOL

    DODO BIRD POWDER

I use 231/HP38 for all low to midrange loads in everything from 38 special up to 45 Colt. Seems to work well but I am not a bullseye shooter just a pleasure shooter. I really like 2400 and sure hate to see it gone and when my supply is gone I guess I will try Accurate number 9 which is...

    OK, Welcome to Georgia

Not trying to be a SA here perhaps I missed it somewhere else. What was the reason you jumped to Georgia? Each state has it own quirks about taxes on what when and so forth. Gubbermint is going to get your money to waste one way or another. Short of a revolution I see no way around it.

How old is too old for a reloading manual to be useful for the price it might cost...

I have manuals dating back to the late 60's. I don't have them on the bench but do occasionally get one down to compare data. I still use pet loads from those days that are not recommended these days. The loads have worked for all that time, 270 Winchester, in many rifles with no problems and...

    44-40 round?

You are correct of course about balloon head cases. I was a little fuzzy with the way I wrote this. I was referring to modern solid head cases and so was Mike Venturino. I think he had had cases fail in the neck, shoulder area. The thinner brass in this area could not take the pressures and...

    44-40 round?

That is correct. That ammo was loaded some years back. I am almost certain that 60 something years ago I saw my Dad using high pressure ammo in a 32/20 but it has been a long time. Model 92 Winchester will easily stand this high pressure ammo however older revolvers and Model 73 Winchesters may...

    44-40 round?

The 44/40 is a bottleneck cartridge that in many rifles and some brass leave the impression that is is only tapered. As originally designed it was for .427 bullet diameter. Quality back in the late 1800's and early 1900's was a little lax and bores are found that are way out of spec. Fast...
