.45 GAP with Moon/Half Moon Clips

I was able to chronograph the Speer Gold Dot 200 grain .45 GAP round from a 4" S&W 22-4. Got an average of 961 fps from a total of 12 rounds. It had a high of 996 f.p.s. and a low velocity of 929 fps. I also ran 13 rounds through my Glock 21 SF. It averaged 879 fps with a high of 900 fps...

.45 GAP with Moon/Half Moon Clips

Oddly enough, the easiest centerfire handgun ammunition to locate these days was the rarest 8 months ago. I read of a guy who successfully fired some 2000 rounds of .45 GAP ammunition in his Glock 21 (.45 ACP) pistol. The pressure on Std. .45 ACP is a nominal 21,000 CUP. It's 23,000...

    M&P C Series serial no.

Is it common that a revolver might be made in one year but not ship for 12 or more months? It has a "half-moon" front sight. Was it about then that the ramp came into use on M&Ps?

    M&P C Series serial no.

I'm trying to determine the year of manufacture and/or shipping date for an M&P .38 Special serial no. C 209312. I think it's somewhere around 1952 but I may be off two years either way. Thanks for any guidance.

    Navy Victory Model or no?

I have been looking at a nice .38 Special Victory Model, Serial Number V10342X. It's marked U.S. NAVY on the left side of the top strap. Is there any way to tell if the navy marking is a counter-fit or is this likely the "real deal?"

    The S&W Chief’s Special and a CS40 Quinfecta

CS40 magazines usable in the Model 4013/4053? I saw a CS40 magazine advertised recently on ebay. The owner thinks he has a Model 4013 magazine. I know the CS40 was had a seven round mag. Is it too short to lock into the Model 4013 and feed properly? I'm pretty sure the Model 4013...

    S&W 3913/3914 Magazine Markings

I have been looking at acquiring a few used S&W 3913/14 magazines while they’re still “under a hundred bucks.” I’ve notice different markings at the bottom of the mag body. Most are of the stainless steel variety. Is there any difference in or advantage to those marked SM, S, or M?

    M&P "Gold Box" Years?

I am looking at an M&P 4" in excellent condition with the serial number C 3077XX. Four faint old looking numbers written in ?crayon? on the bottom of the "gold" box do not appear to match the serial number. What years was the gold box used as the factory container for the S&W M&P? Where were...

Another .38 M&P Serial Number Question

I have another four in. M&P .38 Special with a serial number 469359. It appears to be in great shape. The "made in U.S.A." stamp is on the right side of the frame. Is 1924 to late a date for this revolver to have been made?

    Pre-Model 30 Hand Ejector....I think

Jim, After 26 years as a peace officer and 37 years, 9 months in the Army, USAR and Guard, I only got a pulled muscle and a light concussion as a paratrooper; still have all my fingers and toes, most of my brain....and a lot of good friends and stories. I wouldn't trade the experience for any...

    Pre-Model 30 Hand Ejector....I think

Jim, Chris, DWalt and Bob, Thanks for answering all those questions. It does have case hardened trigger and hammer and a round butt. I measured the barrel with my tape measure last night; you are correct that it has a 3" barrel. The repository of knowledge in the members of this forum is...

    Pre-Model 30 Hand Ejector....I think

I am seriously considering buying a nickel .32 S&W Long from a friend. The piece has a 3.25? inch barrel and a serial number 6730XX. There are three screws on the right side of the frame and a flat cylinder latch release. Its bore and six chambers are super bright and, though there's a couple...

    S&W 1917 vs. Colt 1917

I know Pershing wanted at least Corporals and Sergeants in the AEF to be armed with a handgun in addition to a rifle. Does anyone know what handgun Alvin York was using the day of his actions that resulted in the award of the Medal of Honor? I know that, besides his deeds with his M1917 U.S...

Another .38 M&P Serial Number Question

I have come into possession of an S&W M&P .38 Special, 1905/4th Change with grips that have no medallion. The bore and chambers are bright and corrosion free. There are no end shake or timing issues. The finish is original and better than 80%. The serial number 424199. Any conservative...
