My 686plus is @ the performance center as of today,i am having the action package (trigger job) & the 5"performance barrel installed.Cant wait to get it back.

There are 2different model 627's..1 is 1289.99 & the other is 959.99..which one were you looking at?

COOL! I almost bought a nib PYTHON a few weeks back,$1750.00..thought it was a bit much,but it was a beauty,polished & really nice wood grips,if i new a bit more about them maybe i could have justified it.

General info on Revolvers,learning the basics of how they work & tuning/maintenance without having to be an advanced gunsmith,also just some good books,Sounds as if the ones listed above would be a good startig point.Thanks for your replies.

I just dont get how they could call that good,within spec,etc..come on..its Smith & Wesson..Thats why i bought my 686over the GP100.. Just curious,did you send the 625 back for repairs & it still didnt come back right? How about the 627? Those are nice,pricey firearms,a good friend of mine wants...

I shipped my 686 out yesterday for the same "cantered"barrel issue,mine shot great after adjusting the rear sight,it just kills me it was off center,my friends GP100,SP101 ETC are perfect,if it comes back less than perfect its going bye bye. I guess it may be a lesson learned

What model is the one in the middle? Its very nice! They all look great tho :) I just bought a 686 plus & when i get it back from its warranty repair i want to put a hiviz front sight on it,so the proper way to pick out the size is to measure the height of the current stock sight?

Exactly! I happen to be a Mechanic :) I am shipping it back with a printed photo of the problem,if it doesnt get properly fixed its getting traded in. Thanks for everybody's replies. I am newer to shooting & love it,unfortunately i am in CA. where guns law sucks!

I understand,i enjoy shooting it,just thought something was wrong with it,like the barrel moved or something.

It actually shoots great,i moved the rear sight 3 clicks to the right cause i was shooting to the left a bit,The rear sight is in the center,the front sight seems lined up,but thats just using my eyes.

I have decided that it needs to go back to Smith,it just kills me to look at it now!

Ok..I need to send my gun back,the fact the barrel is not square with the frame just reall bothers me,thats all i see now when i look at it(see previous post for pic)
