    S&W Post-war Terrier .38 - Worth it?

About 10 years ago I decided I just had to have a Terrier to go with my post War transitional 32 HE snub. At the time I couldn’t find one from that time frame and ended up paying $550 for a pre War Terrier to fill the slot. I haven’t been following I frame prices lately, but that sounds OK...

    Brazilian 1917 Gun Show find

Shrek, I want to congratulate you for seeing through/past what was wrong with that revolver, and recognizing all that was right. Of course you can regard those stags as your reward for saving that poor orphan, but the gun itself came out great. Other than perhaps a “proper” set of grips, I...

After 25 years …no Internal Lock!

I’ve reached an age where I’ve slowed down (stopped actually) buying new guns and concentrate on playing with the older stuff I already have. OTOH, you young bucks (and does) now have the opportunity to experience newly made guns with classic features. I just hope the quality comes with it and...

S&W revolvers which .22s top of your list

It doesn’t actually fit into this forum but the 22 revolver I keep returning to is my 1948 vintage K22. I’ve had others, but come back to this one and I’m keeping it as long as I can shoot. Any K22 that lives up to the reputation of these early ones would probably be alright, but this one is...

UPDATE; POST 62 MODEL 67 BARREL DEPARTED ON 3RD SHOT

It would have been a little awkward with the ejector rod hanging out in the breeze, doncha think? I’ve only owned one Model 67, now long gone, but it was a good solid gun. I find myself in full agreement that there has to have been some sort of stress crack, probably due to over torquing. It’s...

    Identify revolver

Welcome. From the description you gave, I’m going to guess a Navy issued Victory Model. We could do a lot better with pictures. Froggie

    Lee Barner= great guy!

If anyone here is considering dealing with Lee Barner, you have nothing to worry about. Of course Lee is known to many here and really doesn’t need much confirmation from me, but I just had to brag on him. I ordered a Weaver scope, and it got here during Blizzard ‘25 in exactly 1 week...

    I am in love...

Dare I mention, along with the 38 M&P Target, you might also look for a 32-20 M&P target? I’ve never owned one, but my 32-20 M&P is so much fun to shoot… Regardless, the pre War K22 is just as sweet as it gets. Long may you enjoy yours! Froggie

    S&W 32 Long Find

With those gold medallions, those pearls look factory. I’d hate to do it, but I’d have to take them off (very carefully) and replace them with wood or hard rubber if I were going to carry and/or shoot them. As somebody already observed, they’re probably worth about what you paid for the gun...

    Time machine to the 90's

If I were going to the ‘90s then returning to the present, I’d buy all the model 16-4s I could find (regardless of barrel length) and all the 631s in sight. I’d fill all the spaces with smooth finger grip combat grips. When I got back here, I’d start selling stuff and enjoy my retirement. Froggie

Trying to Identify 32 S&W Long (pics)

It really deserves range time. Of course, once you shoot it for one good session, once is not enough. I can’t remember how many times I’ve talked on this forum about my love affair with my transitional (leaf spring) 32 HE snub. Froggie

I don’t know where it could have come from, but it’s cute. If the mystery becomes to great for you, send it to me and I’ll give it a nice home. ;) Froggie

    32 Long CTG

Chaps, a serial number, that high, on the butt, sounds post War (WW II that is). As others have said pix would be very useful, but based on caliber and SN, I’m gonna take a WAG and say it’s about 1953 vintage +/- a year or two. It likely has a coil spring action. It is the progenitor to the...

Diff between .32 HE 3rd Model and Regulation Police .32?

David, I was going by Nahas statement that the 2” version didn’t come out until 1949. He puts resumption of production in 1948, so it’s reasonable to assume that 2-3 or more got put together from the pre War parts bins a bit earlier just to warm up. Truckman, Nahas lists the last SN for a pre...

Diff between .32 HE 3rd Model and Regulation Police .32?

IIRC, the I frame 38 S&Ws got their own SN series, so that’s why we’re seeing this discrepancy. The HE 32s broke into 6 digits sometime about 1910, if Nahas is to be believed. I wish I had beat you to one of those last two on your list when I was trying to make my “trifecta” of snubs. I had...

Diff between .32 HE 3rd Model and Regulation Police .32?

Well, it’s starting to snow here in Central VA so I was rereading this thread, and I thought of a question to add. Does anyone have a firm date on any I frames in the early post War I frames? I know the 2” barrel places this one in 1949 or later (per Nahas in SCSW 4) so I’m wondering what the...

    44 Magnum NT-430

OK, you guys have talked me into it. If I can get my printer to play nice with my iPad, I’ll print out a membership app. I was already planning a trip for that weekend, and lo and behold it’s been delayed. It must be Karma! I know this event is way different from a public gun show, but is it...
