Is Victory 22 a Worthwhile Purchase?

For background, I have a Hamden-made High Standard Victor and a S&W M41. But, as I've gotten older, these guns have gotten heavier. So now I have a S&W Victory. Added the Tandemkross trigger. I was nervous due to a number of issues a friend had with an earlier Victory but no real issues with...

Model 41 is Not Ejecting Casings

What do you mean by "CCI low velocity"? If you mean their Standard Velocity 40gr .22LR, that should work in your 41. If it doesn't something needs fixing (or cleaning). But if you perhaps mean CCI Quiet .22 - which comes in a box that looks just like the Standard Velocity - it's not enough to...

SO MANY CHOICES OF 22LR AMMO WHICH ONE IS THE BEST FOR THE PRICE ?

I shoot CCI Standard Velocity in my S&W Model 41. I feel (at my 50 ft range) it is the sweet spot in terms of price and performance. But I recently had issues with one batch; a few failure-to-fires in each box. Just that one lot. I contacted CCI and they sent a label to ship them back...

    Gunsmith marks on guns

I must be REALLY cranky old goat. I make the dealership take their logo off. Actually, I try to get them to not put it on in the first place. But I'm with the others who say that if the gun is "worked on" - not just repaired - and the owner agrees then a small trademark in a hidden location...

5906, Good Deal? Update w/ pics

When I checked with S&W for replacement grips for my 6906 (about a year ago), they did not have any. Of course, might be different for the 5906. But I did find grips at Brownell's; so check there if you have the need.

    A Spring Replacement Question...

How would you test the function after replacing the spring? How many rounds/magazines through the pistol? Assuming the pistol was working fine before any spring change, then it seems to me: Option 1: You sell a pistol you've (presumably) used many times. You'll probably have run 100s to...

10 round Magazine swap for 6946

Robertson Trading Post sells 10 round magazines for the 69xx on Gunbroker. From their description, it appears these are 10 round 59xx Mec-Gar magazines that have the plastic piece replaced with a shorter one to fit the 69xx.

    6906

You may want to research the 69xx grip recall issue. Per S&W: "Smith & Wesson has shipped over 300,000 Third generation Pistols. We have had a very small number or reports where a dropped pistol resulted in a broken grip resulting in a failure to fire by releasing mainspring tension. Resultant...

.38 Special Wad Cutter Ammo - Where to Find?

That Underwood ammo comes in boxes of 20 rounds. At that price, must be "silver" bullets.

    6906 Frame Crack

There have been a couple of posts on this forum where - faced with an unrepairable 3rd gen - S&W offered a discount that really wasn't much if any better than buying a new S&W at Buds or similar.

    6946

Magazines yes. But I've had good luck on ebay with used, quality holsters. Many are duty holsters but you can find others. Also, Safariland makes an inexpensive holster (Safariland 568) that fits the 6946 well, though you'll have to request shorter retention screws from them (the stock ones...

    S&W 5906 vs S&W 5946

I have a 6906 and a 6949. I agree with standsdds with respect to the retention strap, although 6946 holster with retention strap will work with the 6906 (in my case at least). Also, the safety on a xx06 could interfere with a xx46 holster, but that's opposite the direction you're going.

    Shield vs CS9

I wondered about that as well. But as I looked closer, I wondered if the "gaps" we see are just at the tail end of the slide and that the slide to rail fit is better than it appears. I don't have a Shield (or any of the other M&P) models, so I don't know.
