    I got the itch.

Thank you for the advice. I realize that .22 is a very small caliber that isn't ideal for HD but that's my only caliber at the moment and it seems better than a baseball bat. I'm not financially in a position to buy another gun right now. I do not have Magpul sights, I have the standard AR...

Reporter looking for people to interview.

I have a masters in journalism. Texas Star's idea is not bad, but let me elaborate a bit: 1. The very first thing they teach you in journalism school is, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out!" There is no such thing as "off the record." Nothing you say to a reporter who is working...

Price Gouging? Lets help each other!

I've been shopping for ammo at big box stores rather than LGS in my area because the LGS are charging $5-$10 for a box of 100 .22 rounds - they have lots but that is insane. Walmart and Bass Pro's prices are still extremely reasonable, you just have to get there at the right time. A box of 550...

    Iscope

Yeah, that is a bit disturbing. The idea of attaching cameras to personal weapons is probably going to become more popular and be implemented widely as miniaturization and lcd equipment evolves. Look what has happened to the photography industry in the last 10 years. Heck, even the Air Force...

    I got the itch.

I've been planning to build out my 15-22 as my interim home defense weapon until I can afford to buy (and practice with) a larger caliber. Is a sling useful for this or just tacticool overkill?

    Iscope

I'm not a hunter and I'm new to guns... but I am also a very experienced IT guy, so just from a technological perspective, there are very few moving parts on a digital phone camera. The media storage is on flash memory, so it isn't affected by the shaking and G-forces of being in people's...

    Just a quick thanks

It came with one BX25. Haven't seen hide nor hair of a BX25 since. I bought 3 Battledyne mags but they FTE/FTF/jam frequently, so I can't recommend them. Going to try a Battle Creek one next. The BX25 runs perfectly.

    Just a quick thanks

Cabela's had the 16" I-TAC model of the 10/22 for about $300. (It has the stainless barrel and the ATI kit.) I was looking for a standard 10/22 but my LGS only had a terrible looking "cattle drive" 20" version for the same price and a 5-8 week backorder if I wanted anything else. I really like...

    Just a quick thanks

Hey everyone, Way back in November, I posted this thread: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/277224-lots-questions-soon-gun-owner.html and your help really got me on my way with learning about firearms. I was able to find a 10/22 in January but wasn't able to find a 15-22...

    OFFICIAL (IN-STOCK) 15-22 Magazines

I ordered these yesterday morning (thanks for the link guys!) to convert them to 25 rounds. I plan on taking the follower over to my local hardware store and finding a nut/bolt combo that will cost me ~$1. You could also use a pencil to pull the follower down.

    Red dot question

Hi, If you want to try out a reflex sight with a red dot, I found this on Amazon and put it on my 10/22. It took a little fiddling to get it zeroed to the range I wanted (nothing major) and it has kept its zero since I bought it in January. It has 7 levels of adjustable brightness and 4 types of...

lots of questions from a soon to be gun-owner

Thanks, everyone, for your help and advice. I feel a lot better about the 15-22 now. It sounds like I'm at least thinking in the right direction. I was under the impression that bolt actions tended to be better in higher calibers, so thanks for clarifying that as well. I will see if my local gun...

lots of questions from a soon to be gun-owner

Hi there, In my youth, I only owned and shot a Red Ryder and a Daisy 880 air rifle. I've never really seen much personal reason to own a gun until recently. My fiance's dad likes to go shooting at the range, her brother and my new bro-in-law are also into guns. To top it all off, my dad just...
