When Did It Start? (Carrying an Extra Mag)

After four years in the Marine Corps, 13 months in Vietnam, and 32 years in Law Enforcement, I never met anyone involved in a gun fight that ever complained about having TOO MUCH ammunition. Now in my mid 70's, I carry a Sig P365 with a 12 round magazine + 1 in the gun, and a 12 round spare...

    629-1, Exactly what is it?

It looks like a stainless version of the 29-4 "Scope Mount" revolver. This one dates to 1989. It was milled at the factory and came with rings specific to this gun. Also came with spacers, screw driver, cleaning kit, mounting instructions, and the usual paperwork.

What is your preferred EDC Firearm Brand?

    Post war 38/44

Thank you again gentlemen for all the kind comments. I have a number of other N frames for shooting, so I probably won't shoot this one. The previous owner was an S&W aficionado who obviously cared for, and kept, this gun meticulously cleaned. I already put a coat of Renaissance wax on it...

    Post war 38/44

Stop the presses! My life just got better! I just received an email from the seller. He found a Roy Jinks letter regarding this gun in his safe. Sent me a text photo, an will send me the original letter. Usual 38/44 history. Two pages to get to the "Money" last paragraph: "We have researched...

    Post war 38/44

Thank You gentlemen. I'm feeling pretty happy tonight! I may partake in an adult beverage to celebrate! Ooops! Never even thought about not needing a screw driver - force of habit I guess. Well, now I just have to find the paperwork.

    Post war 38/44

I've longed for a 38/44 HD seemingly forever. The pickings are slim to non existent for hand ejectors in California. This a C&R gun and could be bought out of state and shipped to Ca., but the transfer fees and state sales tax are prohibitive - that is, IF you can even find an out of state...

My new favorite EDC knife is.......

I have been carrying a Spyderco "Tenacious" for years and have been perfectly happy with it. I've never owned a pocket knife that cost over $100 dollars - until now. I came across this knife, made by Hogue for Sig-Sauer. Amazing quality and scary sharp, plus it kinda matches the rest of my EDC gear.

    Mountain Revolver -front sight?

I noticed that also. I bought the gun from the original owner. Older gentleman. Not really a gun guy. It was his night stand gun! I guess I could replace it with a period correct one, but I feel that this is how it left factory. I sent numerous photos with my letter request. I thought Mr. Jinks...

    Mountain Revolver -front sight?

Here is another kinda unusual "Mountain Gun". A 629-1 with a square butt. I stumbled on this as just an ad for a ".44 Magnum revolver for sale". Turned out to be one of only 40 square butt guns made on a special order by RSR Group. I lettered the gun and it was confirmed and shipped on Sept...

Firearms you are embarrassed to admit owning

Sedgley Mine is a "Sedgley Baby Hammerless". Circa. 1920 DAO. .22 Short. S/N 547 This was given to me by my wife's uncle about 30 years ago. He was a 40 year LEO. I suspect he may have taken it away from some "Ne'er Do Well" and it never made it to the evidence room. At any rate, it has...

    New to me 12-2

I have an affinity for short barrel K Frames. I didn't have a model 12, but recently I was able to acquire a nickel, 2 inch, Model 12-2 "Airweight" from a fellow Forum member. It's in nice condition and of 1968 vintage. It came with a set of Pachmayr Compac grips in deference to the fact that...
