Good points... and the gun does lock back when pulling the slide back so I am now thinking that it may just be a new/tight recoil spring... I was shooting Winchester White Box ammo and I haven't had trouble with that out of other guns - I don't think it is considered a particularly light load...

There are two different things mentioned previously... the finger rest replaces the flate baseplate on the short 12-round mag that comes with the gun. This converts it to match the other mag that ships with the gun... As mentioned, S&W is usually pretty generous and will give you the finger...
