    Model 25 question

You are correct Hair Trigger. Got a txt plus a pic stating it is a 25-5, 4” bbl and of course blueing that still looks great. The bonus is that the box and papers are there too. This woman had never touched a gun! Yet now she can now open a cylinder, drop a mag and rack a slide. So all...

    Model 25 question

We are about a 1000 miles away from her and I have detailed the instructions I would like her to follow. Pictures proving difficult. The questions surrounding the serial number starting with “AJE” seems to be the issue. My post was placed in this forum by a moderator who gave me a “gig” for...

    Model 25 question

Why I asked. I got a handwritten list from an elderly lady who knows nothing about guns.

    Model 25 question

Thanks I did my research and got nowhere. One old forum post “hinted” the AJE prefix M25’s were designed to chamber 45 Colt as well as 45 ACP. There was nothing else to support that.

    Model 25 question

A friends widow contacted me with info on her late husbands guns. There are 15 handguns and long guns. Most of it I deciphered already. She does lists a Model 25, 45 cal, with no other info as to bbl, finish etc., the Ser No appears to start with “AJE”. Trying to fix a year made. Pics are...

    Advice wanted on Pre 27

I flat filed my sight base and found out I cannot use either A or B. The base is pinned to the barrel. It is one piece with the sight. See the pics attached of what I have (you can barely see the pin) and what I need. I think i am going to have to weld up a Patridge sight. Also I ordered a...

    Advice wanted on Pre 27

I can recall the days when unmodified duty weapons were the norm. The pre 27 needs fun at the range time hence the trigger and sight advice. Would like to get DA to a smooth 9# and SA to 3# plus get rid of that awful ramp front. FWIW I am a Colt guy and have time in grade building 1911s as...

    Advice wanted on Pre 27

Just acquired a pre 27 and want to do some work on it. Numbers all match. It is a 3-1/2” and shoots all in the black in a std bullseye target at 25 yards 1st what trigger kit do you recommend! Wilson or Wolff. The stock mainspring and rebound spring could use something lighter. The primer...

Question about a 13-3 Box Label

Last night I was looking at the closing bids on a SW 13-3 on GB and was a bit interested. The sellers pictured a Blue box bearing what appeared to be a genuine printed SW label with the correct nomenclature of a 13-3, serial number etc.. Where the barrel and finish areas on label are, there...

    RM

The Nickel RMs are scarce. I like the estimate given above as I had thought the number to be about 500, or about 10% of production. The S&W RM database says only 97 with 4-1/2” barrels were produced. Mine was shipped to Lakeland Florida of 12/10/37. Five Nickeled revolvers in a shipment of 8...

    Tisas 1911

A picture is worth a 1000 words. I went to the range today with the Desperado and shot 80 rounds. All without a hiccup. Loading mags a couple Wilson’s I have plus the one that accompanied the gun. An Ed Brown! Really….

    Tisas 1911

First and foremost I’m a Colt collector! 2nd …. reliable daily carry is very important to me. TISAS has been around for 30 years and their tooling for 1911 style pistols is even younger. Not burdened by R&D they copy and produce fine USA pistols and sell them for 20%-30% of what the US...

    Model 27 SerNo S198752

I once owned this revolver and sold it. The owner prior to my ownership had a SWHF letter and I just found it. The revolver A 3 1/2”, went to Charles Greenblatt in NYC in March 1960. A lot of law enforcement guns went thru him. Probably federal since Adjustable sights were verboten on NYCPD...
