There is a need if you prefer a 6-7" slab barrel for example "action pistol" anchoring on the barricade. Accuracy and comfort are both the goal and the 617 revolvers could be seeing more popularity in action pistol as the rimfire events increase.

I see it also has the adjustable trigger stop. Agencies removed them after reports of them getting loose, shifting and preventing the trigger from coming completely to the rear. Don't know when S&W stopped installing them..but I liked mine for bullseye competition.

Kinda curious, I see custom barrels for the K and L frame revolvers normally targeting PPC conversions. One source is Clark Custom Guns, over the years I have bought from them. Anyone make aftermarket barrels for the 617?

I prefer those rubber grips as pictured they have the same reach or a bit shorter from the backstrap to the trigger as compared to the K/L open backstrap rubber grips.

What are the differences between a factory Colt KC Target 22lr and a TALO version? Besides grip and presentation box.

FYI only - attached a picture from RimFire Central where the firing pin bushing backed out of the frame (non staked bushing)...obviously it would not function properly.
