OK, most of ya like beer, but check this out.

I remember that from 71. They had a dark that was quite tasty. I don't care for Heiny at all anymore unless it's free. To me it's just another Bud-Stella-Miller fizzy yeller.

Is anything built to last anymore ??????

My 04 Element has 226000 miles, My 86 Ford, 200K, My 93 Toyota 4x4 278K. All run like tops, although the Ford's interior has turned to dust.

OK, most of ya like beer, but check this out.

There is nothing new about beers brewed with added flavors, at least not anyplace other than the U.S., where generations of people thought beer was supposed to taste like nothing but fizzy watered down alcohol ala Bud-Coors-Miller-PBR. I tend not to drink the flavored ones, but the beauty of...

HEADS UP - Scam SSA Calls

These calls are fun to mess around with.

    Scam yes -no- maybe ?

I've had PayPal since the 90's when they were giving you 10 dollars to sign up. Never an issue. All you have to do is be careful who you receive or send money to. It's frankly hard to believe that people still fall for these old scams.

    I am always losing things......

I lose so many things I have recently decided, when setting out to look for whatever I'd lost, to look in the LAST place first, because the last place I look is always where I find stuff. I'm hoping it'll save a lot of time and frustration.

    Filson vs Boyt gun cases?

I have no experience with either, but everything Filson makes is apparently laced with 24K gold, or something. I recently noticed that some of their apparel is no longer U.S. made, but is just as eye-wateringly expensive as ever.

    Scam yes -no- maybe ?

It's an old reliable Craigslist scam that has a buyer's and a seller's version. Dollars to donuts the "buyer" claimed to be military or some other honorable profession and managed at least one "god bless" in the communication. Apparently suckers still fall for it. Run, don't walk, away.

    Gun Found During Home Renovation

I have an inoperable Colt DA .41 that I found in an old tackle box when I was cleaning out my mother's house. I think it was originally nickel plated but it's so badly pitted and gummed up it's hard to tell. I have no idea if it could be resurrected or not. I suspect the ancient bass lures it...

Anyone ever try to make a grilled cheese sandwich doing this?

First: If you think butter makes you fat you haven't been keeping up. Look instead at the potatoes, bread, biscuits, pancakes and noodles you put it on. Fat doesn't make you fat. Now then, I use mayo on grilled cheese in place of butter, it's easier to spread evenly and crisps the bread better...

    Computer conundrum

2009 MacBook Pro 15 here. I also have a very early 17 that isn't supportable any longer but I still use to run an old edition of Photoshop CS2. We also have two Airs and an iPad or two. Do you elevate the laptop off the work surface? Have you considered swapping in a solid state drive? They're...

Is anyone still watching The Walking Dead?

Still watching, still liking. Gotta get my Maggie fix. I'm curious how one decides a thing one has not seen or experienced is "idiotic".

    YUM! YANKEE CORN BREAD

I like them both, but the one made with the addition of wheat flour and lots of sugar is much more like cake than it is cornbread. Our favorite is pure corn. I grind the red and blue corn that I grow in my own stone mill. Cornmeal, baking powder, eggs, cream and salt. Mix up a batter and pour it...

wal mart doing procotoscopy exams in sporting goods

I recently bought some 9mm at WM. They verified age, said it was store policy. They also recently carded my son, who happened to be with me grocery shopping. I had beer in the cart. Another store policy. This "federal law" thing sounds more like a dumb manager giving bad instructions to a...

Need a change?? Want a gun friendly place with 4-seasons and good economy?

Here in NM we have fantastic weather! The scenery, sights, history, food are unparalleled. There are negative factors in play. I have family and very deep multigenerational ties in both states. We've been here far longer than the U.S. has. Both states are over 50 percent public land. NM has...

Alternative Whiskey / Mixed Drink Thread for the Low Brow Amongst Us

A very tasty Rye whisky. Most Canadian hooch is blended and contains very little if any rye in the mashbill. The Pendleton is an exception. Also notable is it's aged and bottled in the U.S. in Hood River Oregon. Another very well priced Canadian rye is Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye. It's also...

Need a change?? Want a gun friendly place with 4-seasons and good economy?

I haven't lived in Central AZ my whole life....yet. Your optimism about a building moratorium is interesting. I cannot recall, ever, in this state, a lack of available water being a deterrent to rampant, speculative development. On the Verde Valley side of the mountain, we are fighting tooth...

Need a change?? Want a gun friendly place with 4-seasons and good economy?

Prescott is still nice. We go there once a month for provisions at Costco, TJ's, Sprouts and Park Plaza Liquors. The awful jaunt through Prescott Valley to get to Prescott proper is no fun at all. My uncle raised and trained thoroughbred horses in Chino Valley back in the 60s. The wind was...
