Powder burn rates, PF and recoil

Scooter123: Really great info. I did some searching for the Vitavouri 3N37 powder and reviews look good but $50 for 1# of powder is a bit steep compared to so many of the other powders. Is it really that much better? Seen rave reviews for using Alliant Power Pistol for 9mm and 40 but almost...

Powder burn rates, PF and recoil

Like the positive so. OK. Done Chrono ordered plus the Bluetooth adapter for iPhone/iPad. Really like all the features the Bluetooth added. I do not like to borrow things so chrono on it's way.

Powder burn rates, PF and recoil

Chronographs Since we've been on the subject of chronographs.... I've been leaning towards the Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital Chronograph. Even on sale at Midway right now. Pretty good price for the reviews, any opinions yay or nay?

Powder burn rates, PF and recoil

This is why I love these forums..... Regarding chronograph..absolutely! I'm shopping different chronos at this time, also REALLY open to recommendations. Will likely be borrowing a good friends till I pick one. He's more into reloading for big bores and Elk hunting so different reload data...

Powder burn rates, PF and recoil

I started shooting USPSA last year and have gotten pretty serious about it. Also made the jump into reloading. I shoot a variety of guns and as part of getting the guns zeroed in I've been experimenting with lots of different brands of ammo, bullet weights etc. 9mm seems the least picky, the...

Stop me before I buy again!

Wife just came back from her 2-1/2 weeks in LA. Took laundry down stairs and came up asking... "Why is there a food dehydrator and tumbler in the laundry room?" "For cleaning and drying my brass" "OH MY GOD! MORE GUN STUFF! The guns are taking over the house!" Figured not a good time to explain...

Stop me before I buy again!

Certain guns are like Harleys....vending machines for upgrades and accessories. AR-15s being the worse for that one. My M&Ps are running 2nd But now that I have the new gun I NEED........ The Apex enhanced trigger kit The enhanced magazine release The fiber optic sights A different holster...

Stop me before I buy again!

My wife is from LA and does NOT like guns. However, last November she went to LA to visit son and new grandbaby for three weeks. While she was gone bought an AR-15 and M&P40. Her daughter narked on me and I got the angry wife phone call. "why do you need an assault rifle!!" I don't, I wanted...

Stop me before I buy again!

Friends that know me well are threatening an intervention as I've been buying a new gun every single month since last November plus lots of stuff to go with them. Been averaging $2k per month. I promised myself time to stop buying guns let the savings account recover and even told the friends...

    M&P40 sights issue

Finally got some face time with my gunsmith at the range last week and spent over an hour chatting when we found out we both shoot USPSA at the same club. I'm new, he's champion with LOTS of years of experience. One of the topics we chatted about was sight issues with M&Ps and he was explaining...

    9mm bullet weight for USPSA

I just spent two hours at the range last night (Friday) with multiple boxes of 40c ammo, different manufactures, different bullet weights. All of the 165 gr 40c hit low. Depending on manufacturer, two to three inches low. At 25'+ the 180 gr hit on line or slightly high (same sight picture) I was...

    9mm bullet weight for USPSA

Variation on the same question but 40 cal. I also shoot my M&P 40 but not as much as the 9. The 40 has more of a kick and crack than my 1911 45 does and I expect it is the difference in subsonic vs supersonic rounds. If I load up 180 gr bullets at around 6 grains of BE-86 I'm guessing I should...

    Magwells for USPSA Production

Yup, #2 pretty much put the nail in the question. Guess I didn't look deep enough.

    9mm bullet weight for USPSA

This is exactly the info I was looking for. I had read that heavier bullet, lower velocity but still making PF has less recoil. Do want to make sure the PF can still tip the steel silhouettes. Last week had one guy rang the steel three time and not tip. Match stopped as army of ROs checking...

    9mm bullet weight for USPSA

Just now making the jump into reloading and the complete set up for the Hornady LNL AP press. Pushed a $1,300 cart out of Cabela's over the weekend. As I'm looking at the different recipes I'm wondering which is better for USPSA shooting in the Production division. Lighter bullet, higher...

    Magwells for USPSA Production

SSS also has a mag end plate that does not extend the magazine or increase capacity, stock length but designed to fit the SSS magwell. Magwell increased the grip length by about 1/2" While talking with my gunsmith that also shoots USPSA he said the criteria for Production is the manufacturer had...

    Magwells for USPSA Production

I know magwells are OK for Limited and Open but currently shooting Production. Looking at the SSS full magwell for my M&P 9 but have not been able to confirm the magwells are OK for Production. I know I'll be moving to Limited at some point and probably SS with the 45 later but for now playing...

    M&P40 sights issue

Tactical: Thank you good stuff! Correct regarding POA/POI. With my buddy had him put open sights on target and compare laser dot location which was low and left. Laser is zeroed in at 25' (Indoor range) I use 17 x 11 cardstock AR sighting targets for indoor range use as they fit the hangers...
