    New to a Carry-Friendly state...advice needed please.

I've been carrying a 5" full underlug 629, a 24 oz. Taurus .357 snub and a NAA Black Widow .22 mag. along with a reload for the two big guns all day. Most people wouldn't choose to carry that much and that's fine, but don't say "never". At the same time, I wouldn't advise a new carrier go with...

In search for new pocket gun.

The 60 is a good gun and a gold standard. It was the first stainless steel revolver, IIRC. Think of the 640 as a model 60, but with an internal hammer. That means no hammer to snag and one less place for dirt to get into the gun. If I had a model 60, I would simply bob the hammer and then carry...

In search for new pocket gun.

Maromero, welcome to the forum. I don't recommend carrying only one gun and especially when it's only a five shot. Just some food for thought and I practice what I preach. My friend from Texas has given you good advice. The 642 and 442 are probably the most popular guns that S&W make...

    "AirLite recoil problems" update

I'm happy to hear the good news, Elizabeth! It sounds like you found the right gun. What load are you shooting out of it?

Do you alternate shotshells with regular shells?

Snakes aren't much of a concern in Michigan, although a couple of the boys in my last guard platoon ran into a rattlesnake on a Camp Grayling rifle range. He gave fair warning so they left him alone and he left them alone. I don't even own a single round of snake shot and feel no need to. If I...

    appendix carry?

I haven't broke down and bought one yet, but I like the look of Bell Charter Oak's appendix carry holsters. YMMV, but barrels under 3" should appendix carry well for most folks. Longer than that likely not. A Colt Magnum Carry should carry well in the appendix position. You will need a...

    QuickStrips by Tuff products

I carry speed strips and consider them a great way to top off the guns when the shooting is over. IMO, the name "speed strip" is an oxmoron, but perhaps others are more dextrous than I am. I just pull another gun and keep shooting. I wouldn't overthink things. I carry every round the things will...

If you have reliability problems with your P3AT send it in to K-T. My gun had issues, but they stood behind their product and made things right.

    CCW Clothing

Big +1. I'm not a big guy, yet I walked past three local cop's table in a diner this morning while packing a 5" 629 .44 magnum, Taurus 605 .357 snub and a NAA Black Widow .22 mag snub. They never batted an eye. I was wearing carpenter's jeans and a button down shirt.

Pocket carry for LEO backup gun?

Add one more to the list. I'd recommend fully loading the gun. If you really are concerned about the trigger getting pulled, then use a pocket holster. I do all the time, and no one notices. My Mika PH prints the least. One can further camoflage the gun by wadding a hanky in the bottom of the...

    Shooting my KelTec P3AT today

It doesn't. The P3AT is a deep concealment BUG, a lousy primary and chambered for a crappy cartridge. It is great for what it is and kudos to K-T for bringing such a piece to the market. However, if one can carry more, it would be stupid not to.

review - Kelly Arms Boot Grips for pocket carry

My thinking is that two finger grips are easier to hide and will work where three finger grips sometimes won't. That's why two fingers makes more sense to me from the factory. While three finger grips make sense for some people, they don't make sense to me as the factory default setting.

Pocket carry for LEO backup gun?

weakside front pocket I'm not a cop, but that is where I carry my BUG when I'm not at work. I actually shoot a couple of my guns as well, and actually better sometimes, with my weak hand. I'd think the front pocket would be easier to protect from a snatch attempt than a rear pocket...

review - Kelly Arms Boot Grips for pocket carry

Looks nice. I never understood why S&W puts those big, stupid three finger grips on a J frame.

    586 Locked Up

Actually, I think the primer bulges and flows before it can start sliding. You're most welcome! I'm no authority on this stuff, but I would think it would take some very serious doing to have such trouble with .38 ammo. The load that caused my lock up was R357M1 (Rem. .357 125 gr. SJHP). A load...

    Kramer leather

Ditto. I use my Kramer PH most every day and have for at least a couple years. It is still in excellent condition and retains my weapon much better than my Mika. The Mika has the advantage of printing less. I wouldn't be without either.
