S&W revolvers of today vs. yesteryear-which are better?

I love my vintage guns, but one thing can't be denied. Metallurgy has come a LONG way in recent times. It would have been impossible to build revolvers that could handle cartridges like the .454 Casull or .460 and .500 S&W Magnums fifty years ago.

    Updated Model 627 "Bloodwork" Gun

I prefer unfluted cylinders for their added weight and ease of cleaning, but I like both types and certainly wouldn't turn down either! :) Performance Center 627 8-shot 29-4 3" Special/Gary Reeder Classic

Holster for my 627-5 bloodwork came in

That's a handsome holster. It should serve you well for many years. I bought my first EPS holsters back in the '70s. They're a good outfit.

    60 ND Photos/Range Report #16

I was going to spare you this, but since you insist........ Your attempt to somehow tie Frank Rizzo to the MOVE standoff and bombing is ludicrous and serves only to reveal your complete and utter ignorance of what actual happened there. Neither Frank Rizzo nor the concocted idea of his...

    S&W wooden grips

Actually, $150 would be a bargain these days. Most are selling for $200 and up in mint condition like those appear to be in. If you check the For Sale section of this board, you'll see some examples. I recently sold a pair of N-frame round butt combat grips myself that were slightly less than...

    60 ND Photos/Range Report #16

I was a cop across the river in Camden during this time period, knew a number of the HP guys, and used to go to their drill team show every year at The Vet. Regarding the Model 60, it was almost without a doubt sold out of Colosimo's on Spring Garden Street where, at that time, darn near every...

Which Kramer holster for my 627 2.5 inch 8 shooter.

You would be much better off and more comfortable wearing this revolver in a good belt holster than any IWB. As you know, that cylinder is quite wide. I wear mine in one or another Lobo Gun Leather holster (a forum vendor). Lobo Enhanced Pancake Lobo Modified Tom Threepersons

That's a real beauty from a great era. Congratulations! Is that a Smith & Wesson brand holster? Thanks!

Odds of getting a canted barrel

This is exactly my situation. Living in a mountainous, rural part of Pennsylvania, I wouldn't have half the firearms I own because they wouldn't in a million years have ever been found in one of the local gun shops around here. My Performance Center 8-shot 627 snubbie is a perfect example. Ten...

Odds of getting a canted barrel

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've had two canted barrels including one Performance Center revolver. It seems to me that when you screw a barrel onto the frame of a revolver rather than pin it on as was once done, this is bound to happen on a semi-regular basis. Extremely uncommon? I think that is...

    Police Dept. commemoratives.....

Congratulations! That FBI commemorative is very nice! I also see that you're a fan of True Detective (The world needs bad men....). It's currently my favorite TV crime drama.

    Police Dept. commemoratives.....

Thanks! I can't tell you a whole bunch about it. They were issued in the '90s for the NJSP 75th Anniversary (1921-1996). The revolvers are a modern rendition of the Colt Army Special which was the first issued sidearm of "The Outfit." I say "rendition" because they don't have a true Army...

    Police Dept. commemoratives.....

Sorry for the "Brand X" gun, but I thought some might like to see the original NJSP commemorative revolver. This came with a buckle (you can see a printed version of it in the case), but, unfortunately, it was missing when I found this set for sale.
