Not enough that you can tell it with a human ear. Actually, it makes it louder. The back pressure from the suppressor forces more gas, and noise, out the cylinder gap. There are lots of sources, tests and data online if you really want to look at real results. One source...

It was not effective. The Army experimented with the revolver and suppressor above. S&W made the cylinder longer to try to help with the gas and noise coming from the gap but it did not work. It's failure is what led to the development of the QSPR, which also wasn't effective.

I think the only options are the Victory Model K frame and the M1917 N frame. Since these were sanded to size AFTER they were installed there are dimensional differences in all of them.
