New M1 Garand's to hit the market...

I'm glad that there's at least an attempt to make these available to those who either don't own one or don't want to navigate the sometimes complex process of vetting and sourcing an original. My '44 Springer still shoots just fine so I won't be interested, but options are never bad! And...

    Unique 13-2

Agreed, a 3” RB is hard to deny. It would take a hefty pile of cash for me to come off my 65. OP Make sure to post pics if you swap barrels!

    Model 60 to pair w/ my 36

A few months ago I picked up a clean 36 flat latch. Recently got the opportunity to trade into a pretty Model 60 to make the pair. Haven’t shot either. Might not shoot either. It’s just fun to have the pretty pair. Always a good convo piece when guests are over. These darn J frames are a bit...

Wrist watches - Tried out Seiko Modding

It’s precisely that: a fun DIY hobby. These watches have no real monetary value, IMO. It’s a way to build a custom watch and have some fun doing it without spending a boatload. That’s about it. If/when I get bored w/ these builds, I’ll probably just give them to family/friends. You absolutely...

Wrist watches - Tried out Seiko Modding

I pieced all build parts together off of Ali Express. If you’re unfamiliar, imagine China’s version of Amazon/Ebay. The benefit of buying there is cheap prices and variety. There are some quirks for sure, but it was fairly painless and I got everything I ordered in about a week. To answer...

Wrist watches - Tried out Seiko Modding

I have original Seikos myself, love them too. This is simply for fun.

Wrist watches - Tried out Seiko Modding

After watching a million YT videos I decided to dip my toes into this community and built this 2-tone “Seiko” GMT. It was a lot of fun, and also quite challenging but rewarding. I was pretty confident, as I’ve worked on guns for years and am quite handy, but this is certainly a different animal...

    681/686 Deal

Nice score! Safe to say you did great at $1200. Shoot, I'd have been happy to get them both at $1400, It's hard to get 1 pre-lock, pre-MIM L frame for under $800 around here. Enjoy them!

    VZ grips anyone?

Big VZ fan here. Between 1911s, CZs, and Smiths, I probably have about 10+ sets of VZ grips. For S&Ws I really like their round-to-square conversions. They just fit my hand perfectly. Also have a set of their boot grips, but I find they’re best suited to smaller revolvers like my 66 snubby. I’ve...

Altamont Coke Bottle K Frame Round Butt Conversion Grips

I don’t exactly have those, but I got a set for my N frame RB conversion. Pictured on my 629 Mountain Revolver. In my opinion, they look great. They were cut and fit well. You should know that they definitely fit the hand smaller than real cokes or target stocks (for their N frame model). Not...

    My fathers 66-1

Congrats on getting that fine and sentimental piece back. And double congrats to the old friend who let it go back to you. I've known people like that, and that type of character is not soon forgotten. Also - That's an awesome 66! Not only a great Smith, but it was Dad's. That's a keeper...

    686 Cylinder; Fluted or Unfluted

There's likely some imperceptible functionality differences between the two. I think the more important decision should revolve around which one YOU like better, and that's it.

That’s a pretty family, thanks for sharing!. Wood and stainless steel will never go out of style.

    686 appreciation post

Yes, all VZ round-to-square conversion grips. They fit me well. My 2.5” (purchased from a friendly fellow forum member) came with SW Combats, but as pretty as they were, just didn’t fit my hand. But dang they looked good.

    686 appreciation post

If I had more money… I’d have a safe full or -4s in all lengths. For now the 2.5” puts a lot of smiles on faces. Some day maybe…

    686 appreciation post

I dug these out of the safe and wanted to take a photo. The S&W 686 is the 1st .357 I've shot. My father and I used to go to the range and just rent guns to shoot. 1 day, we decided to step up from the 9mm pistols and the .38 mod 64s we were renting and try the 686 in .357 mag. "It's only THAT...

    Got a 60 to pair w/ my 36

I traded into this model 60 ND. Definitely didn’t need it, will likely never carry or shoot it. But had the chance to pair it w/ its 36 ND brother. Couldn’t resist. They look good together, right?
