Well, here's an opinion I will throw out (which others may well throw back at me :) Maybe '15 years ago,' but not 30+ years ago IMO. I have owned / worked with many real 1911's and shot more than a few imitations (none $1,000 ones let alone $3,000) and the 'real' ones from the 70's were heads...

So is the 45 - but it is still 'kicking.' :D (None better IMO.)

I figured such. The ability to be polished is what I questioned re: other posts re: same. (Looks like someone did a nice job anyway :) )

Yes, back of trigger is 'hollow.' The sides of both trigger/hammer are 'burled' as in jeweling. (Brown tint is reflection)

I have a 66-5 3.25" and the hammer and trigger were both jeweled, like a rifle bolt, and have a mirror-bright polish. Were these items not MIM?

In my case one of my carry guns is a Star PD .45. Most everyone knows this gun is not made for shooting factory loads due to its 'fragility.' Those who don't know could be shown much expert advice to support/substantiate this fact. It would seem that using mild handloads in this instance would...
