    Upcoming execution in Alabama

I did EHS in the railcar repair industry for several years. We often used nitrogen gas to purge other harmful gasses out of tank cars because it's so dense it will force other gasses out of the tank. We then had to purge the nitrogen out of the bottom of the tank with oxygen. Suffocation from...

    Ruger 10/22 Magnum

I avoided Ruger 10/22s for most of my life. Then when the take-down model first came out I decided it would be an ideal camping rifle and bought the first stainless one I saw. So far it's done everything I hoped. Last week Ivan and I were in a LGS and they had a 10/22 in 22 Mag on the shelf...

    New S & W rifle

Hey, if Henry can try producing revolvers then S&W can play in the lever action sandbox. I don't want to see their lever action line fail but I wish they had put the effort elsewhere. A short run of "classic" revolvers in the harder to find calibers, 32 Mag, 41 Mag etc.. Sans locks of course.

    Winchester still making 38 S&W?

I do reload 38 S&W. If I wanted a couple dozen nickel cases to set up for only wax bullets I would trim down some nickel plated 38 Special cases to the correct length. I don't think pressures generated by wax bullets will be enough to bulge the 38 Special cases when fired in a 38 S&W chamber...

This Spring: A trillion cicadas to arrive!

Does this mean ammo prices are going up?

She told me she got confused!

My rat terrier loved to run the ditch after a rain. She would come back covered in green slime.

Alec Baldwin Indicted in 'Rust' Shooting!

It'll be interesting to see how this trial and verdict compares to Officer Kim Potters trial in 2021.

Alec Baldwin Indicted in 'Rust' Shooting!

He has as much chance as being convicted as OJ did, IMHO. Money can buy almost anything these days.

Repair of chipped grip on H&R

Thanks all, I don't expect it will be a prefect match but thought a repair should be possible,.

    I did not know this...

Several years ago we were visiting Gettysburg. While on Little Roundtop I was looking at the memorial for the 44th NY when I heard a teenage boy say: it must have been handy having this castle on top of Little Roundtop during the battle. His friends agreed with him. Reminded me why we did not...

    40 S&W M&P and felt recoil

Handling the M&P series in shops I always thought they felt well in my hands. I never reached for my wallet until the police trade-ins started hitting the market at around $200. First was a medium barrel 45 MP, Liked it so well when Brinks dumped their 40 S&W I picked up a M&P Compact, which...

Repair of chipped grip on H&R

This recent acquisition is the result of hitting a couple gun shops today with Ivan the Butcher. Not sure why it caught my eye but I've always liked these old hammerless top breaks. Mechanics are good and surprisingly there is no pitting in the bore. However obviously a previous owner was...

    Trade a S&W for a Taurus???

Without knowing the version of the M10 and how much they were offering in trade there is no way to judge if this was a good deal or not. If I had a S&W M10 with the lock and the shop was offering anything close to an even trade for a Taurus 605 or 608 I'd probably trade.

    Question on reloading .32 short

I have a Lyman Turret I use for load development and an old Rockchucker for low volume rifle rounds. But everything else is on my old Dillon 450. What press I loaded 32 S&W on would depend more on how many brass I had available. If I have more than 100 brass it's going on the 450. When I...

    32ACP bullet question

Many swage down slightly oversized bullets in the final crimp stage without thinking about it. I regularly shoot .358 in my 9x19 and have no problems with function. The Berrys you mentioned using in 32 ACP have worked fine for me without trying to swage them down.

    Dodged a bullet!

I buy so few firearms from dealers I find it interesting that the firearm was traced back to you. If there was a document trail showing you had legally sold the firearm why would a detective bother calling you about the firearm anyway? Unless you were the last person to own it before the crime...

Costs of World War II infantry rifles?

We were issued M3s in 1993 for our ammo drivers. They were either unused or post WW2 rebuilds because they looked brand new. When the M3s first came in I degreased, field stripped and reassembled one of them, much to the surprise of the other NCOs and the Battery Commander.

Costs of World War II infantry rifles?

Interesting question and a quick internet check gives a variety of answers. This site: A Rough Guide of the Costs of Guns During WWII | War History Online says Garands cost $85 at the beginning of the war and &45 at the end. However CMP says the cost was $94- $97 throughout the production...

    Question on reloading .32 short

Load wise I think the easiest approach would to be use Trail Boss. Similar to loading BP except you fill the case to the base of the bullet and DO NOT compress the charge.

    Heaviest recoiling gun you’ve shot?

Does a M109 Howitzer count? The most painful longarm I've ever shot was a M95 MS carbine in 8x56R. I've owned both 458 Win mags and 375 H&H mags so I have some understanding of recoil. Which may be why most of my shooting is now done with .223 or 22 LR.
