    M1917 Questions/Opinions

I have gone the AutoRim route for my 1917s. After slicing my finger on moon clip. I did buy a moon clip tool, but I think I;ll stick to the 45AR cartridges. If I were the OP I would consider that route

To all the managers of your respective fields.

I started in management at 24 years old in a union shop for all but 5 of the next 40 years I was in manufacturing management roles. Early on in the union shop it was a daily battle. Lots of guys whose respect I had to earn because of my age. later in my career, I learned to lead instead of...

    Landman TV Series

The language in the show and Billy Bob Thornton's ex-wife's behavior in the show or a little off-putting to me. Hard for me to believe the people that operate at that level really live and talk like that but then maybe I'm just naive

Why the disdain for “rich” people ?

I can dispute this statement with facts. The sum of the dollars deposited in my Social Security account by my employer and me since 1970 is $432,000. So if that money never collected a dime in interest, it would cover my payout for 12 years. Now I did a little calculation and at 4% interest per...

Not a damned thing wrong with that revolver at that price.

Demand for factory Remington 22 jet ammunition?

FActory Remington ammo is reputed to erode forcing cones very rapidly. I shot a couple boxes of it before I learned that, and realized the crazy price it brought. The PPU stuff is much milder. A photo of my forcing cone. I have since sold this.

Why the disdain for “rich” people ?

Well, a lot there. The "rich" take advantage of the tax laws as written by the government. You know why they have those advantages? They pay people to find them, and the people who make the tax laws....Most of them are rich, at least after a few years in office. No incentive to eliminate tax...

    S&W Model 19 DOM

Personally, I'd go with the grip adaptor. I just can't get into the banana grips, even with my large hands. I like your choice of gun though.

    Help me identify this revolver

Saw this one at a local shop today. 38 S&W caliber, 4" barrel Square butt. Serial number on the bottom of the butt. Looks to be a 4 screw. I believe it to be the improved I frame with a coil spring since I don't see a strain screw. My original thought was a Regulation Police, but it isn't...

    Anniversary

My stepdaughter who I raised since she was not quite two, called us after being estranged from us for some time. She wanted to tell us that she had met a man and that she was pregnant and was going to leave her husband to marry this guy. At that point in my relationship with my daughter where I...

A hard lesson from John Farnam

You know, years ago when I went to the local chief of police to get a letter for a concealed carry license, he told me that if I ever had to use a gun, my life would be forever changed, no matter the legality or circumstances under which said use occurred. At that time I decided that if I wanted...

This makes no sense does it? Model 28 Frankengun

I say go ahead. I am pondering the same type of thing, modifying a 38 to something slightly different and unusual. I will likely end up with $1200 to $1400 in a gun that will never bring me a return on my investment, but I am not spending the rent money, and I want it. Aint it grand living in a...

Sold/Withdrawn Sold- Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson

So while I was at the symposium , I bought a copy of the 5th sdition and the authors were kind enough to sign it for me. I was pleased to upgrade from what I thought was my 4th edition. Alas, I already had a 5th edition. So my error now a bargain for someone. The book is like new. $50 shipped...

Every Gun Handed Down To me Is Junk!

Dad left my brother and I a few guns, most of them not worth a whole lot. I got an Enfield revolver, an Ithaca Featherlight 16 ga, a Ranger 22, an unfinished sporterized 1903, and a Remington 721. Brother got a 20 gauge Remington Model 17, a Savage 99, an old bolt action shotgun, a Savage 32...
