45 ACP 230gr FMJ Headstamp ID

Here is a box from 1918. If I remember correctly, Remington-Union Metallic Cartridge became Remington Arms around 1912. Perhaps they were using both REM-UMC and RA during WWI.

Letter for my plain old NM3 has arrived

If I am reading it correctly, the letter says it was shipped in 1992. Should that be 1892, perhaps?

    What about these pre-war grips?

I agree that they appear to be Catalin. Here’s another pair. The only reference that I have found is to a Maurice Scharlack from Corpus Christi, Texas, who allegedly made Catalin grips from the 1920’s to the 1940’s.

    Best place to sell parts....eBay??

Here’s the information from the IRS website… IRS announces 2023 Form 1099-K reporting threshold delay for third party platform payments; plans for a $5,000 threshold in 2024 to phase in implementation | Internal Revenue Service.

    Best place to sell parts....eBay??

You might want to check the 1099-K threshold for 2024 sales on eBay. As I understand it, the amount has been changed to $5,000 in order to allow a “phase in” of the new $600 requirement, which will take effect in 2025.

This is how you spend 2 hours and ruin $100 grips

I agree with the others that you have not ruined the grips. However, if you happen to run across a barrel marked “JM,” I suggest you refrain from grinding those letters off 😃.

This is how you spend 2 hours and ruin $100 grips

Original Jerry Miculek grips did not have any engraving on them. They looked just like what you produced. I had a pair (manufactured circa 2007), and sold them a couple of years ago in the original package.

    .38 S&W load data

Here is some load data from the Lyman Reloading Handbook 45th Edition copyright 1970. You can also find .38 S&W reloading data at the MD Smith website (reloadammo.com), where they distinguish between loads for “break top” and solid frame revolvers. (Just noticed - same as the site above from...

New to me .38 SPL Model of 1905 4th Change

It is a bit difficult to tell from your photos, but the finish may be hard chrome, which was done frequently. The B on the barrel flat suggests that it was originally a blued gun. Apparently, there were some K frame M&P’s that were chromed by the factory. They are quite rare, and if I remember...

    Super Vel ultra match

If I read the history of the company correctly, the first Super Vel cartridges were produced from 1963-75, when bankruptcy required sale of the assets. At that time, production was in Shelbyville, Indiana, which is the address that shows in your photo. The child warning was in use during that...

    McAfee pop up

If you have this site in your “favorites,” then perhaps uninstall it and sign in again. (I had a similar problem - and like you, only with this site - and that seems to have solved the problem for me). (iPad)

    Model 12 16 gauge

In checking Gunbroker actual sales (not listings, but actual sales) there is only one in similar very nice condition that sold for about $625 plus shipping.

Correct grips for this “C” prefix .38?

And they look like this….. (note the sharp edge at the upper front edge of the grip - later ones are smoother, more rounded). (Oops! wiregrassguy got to it before me.)

S&W Cleaning Kits - Help Please

I agree with Ken158. If by chance you have a screwdriver (sight adjustment tool or SAT, whatever you prefer to call it) that has a long taper tip (see photo), that, too, would be worth a bit more (it’s hard for me to tell from your photograph what types are there). And, of course, your friend’s...
