    A Rare 44 Magnum

Were the very early five inch 44 magnums shipped in a leatherette presentation case made for a longer barrel length?

New Shoes For a Model 27

I would like to own a set of Keith Brown grips someday. A few years ago I looked into ordering from him. His website said he was not accepting any new work as of 2020. So I suppose the used market is the only option unless you have a preexisting order. Great looking stocks Narragansett and...

    Pawn Shop Find M-36

Very nice find. I would have brought that one home too. Maybe it didn't see a lot of action, but I wish it could talk.

    Grain harvest 2024

Hi pawngal, must be a regional thing. Around here we say cutting beans and shelling corn😊.

    Grain harvest 2024

Thanks everyone for your comments. They are very interesting. Despite the weather, potential poor yields and low grain prices, cost of fuel and equipment, insects, pesticides (that will get a rise out of some), fertilizer, taxes, seed costs, etc, I think farming is something that's just in...

    Grain harvest 2024

Shelled about 400 acres of corn before the rains hit. Have 1000+ acres of corn left. Started cutting beans today, and not surprisingly, yields look way down from the last few years. Have about 1400 acres of beans left to cut. I grew up farming and after an early retirement from my previous...

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

Really nice Hawg Rider. An N-frame four inch nickeled revolver is very easy on the eyes. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

Thank you once again Doc. I appreciate your time and input regarding this case. I would not want to misrepresent it in the future. I'll make notes on the details and and set it aside with other S&W collectables. Best regards.

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

The bottom of the case insert is cardboard with cut outs. The top is soft but I'm not sure if it is sponge rubber.

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

Thank you again Doc. I hope you will comment on the clasp question that Rusty parrot poses.

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

Oh, thank you so much for that information Doc. I'm glad to know what I really have. Here are a couple of photos of the case in question. I don't think the wood looks like mahogany. When I study the revolver lying on the satin lining a little closer, that 6 inch barrel seems a bit short...

Correct presentation case for first year 57.

Back in February 2023 I posted a thread on a new to me Model 57 and I wondered if it might be a first year .41 magnum. In the photo I provided, Doc44 noticed the presentation case lining was the satin type and probably not correct for a first year gun. Shortly after I lettered the revolver and...

    Introducing, Honey!

Good for you and well done StrawHat! Beautiful golden. Rescue stories are great. We have some friends that just rescued a golden retriever living in the same circumstances as Honey. She was a little shy at first but now is about the sweetest and friendliest dog you could ever imagine. I...

    1st Year .44 Magnum 4-inch

Very nice DARE. Good looking cokes too. Here is a photo of my five screw 44's. The 6.5 inch was shipped on July 6, 1956 and the 4 inch was shipped on February 27, 1957. So not a first year four inch like yours but a nice one nonetheless.

    I'm back!

I'm glad you are OK. Not sure what county you live in, but most of my family still live in Russell County. Everyone is fine but some were without power for a while.

    Ivory, mammoth and elephant

Thanks everyone for sharing some beautiful handguns and knives. Not ivory, but here are a few knives with what I think are great looking scales. Left two, elk antler. Second from left, bottom row, rams horn. Right three, stag.
