    10mm Case variation

I have done a lot of hi end load development in Magnum Rifles but this is my first with pistols. So far I checked with MidWayUSA and Graff and neither carry the Remington Peters cases anyway. I am pretty conversant in internal ballistics at least with rifles and there is this weird gottcha...

    10mm Case variation

Somewhere from a forum I copied the following text and I want to know what brand "R-P brass" is as I think I want to use it too? "I've been loading 10mm for years and pretty much settled on the 200 gr. XTP, 13.2 gr AA9, WLP primers and had been using R-P brass until recently. I changed to...

Lee Factory Crimp vs Taper Crimp die ?

I want to load for 9mm, 10mm auto pistols, and 38 special as well as 8mm Mauser Rifle and 7mm Rem Mag I could be wrong but I thought I had seen both types of crimp dies for the same calibers whether they had a groove in the bullet or not. OR headspaced on the case mouth.

Lee Factory Crimp vs Taper Crimp die ?

I see both of these are available for some of the calibers I am interested in. Maybe one or two dollars difference which is meaningless. When is one preferable to the other and why? Any other considerations?

    10mm historical load research

Hey 681 I was originally interested in the 135gr also but there is an online youtube test of various 10mm loads and I cannot remember where but the 135gr Remington HP completely disintegrated in gelatin at 10mm velocities. I am attaching a photo of the bullet fragments left over. That is why I...

    10mm historical load research

CTK- Could you please verify your manual version and data for the AA#7 with 155gr XTP bullet. Since my post on 10Talk I have received some info fm Hornady manuals. I dont have the actual manuals but the info reported to me in my research is as follows: > 155 XTP  13.9gr AA#7 1400 fps  Hornady...

    10mm historical load research

--------------------------- Yea, I would be happy with that. Instead I am having to do all this research, buy reloading equipment and do the load workups. Anyway, learning is fun. I've done a lot of load workups with magnum rifles to signs of pressure and then back off some and I dont think...

    10mm historical load research

Yes, I think you have to sign up for yahoo which is not much different than signing up for most forums. Yahoo is the largest host on the worldwide internet for groups discussions with over two million different groups. I assume if you access the group and are not a member Yahoo would steer...

    10mm historical load research

If anyone has a real interest in 10mm stuff I have created a place or repository to store all the data that I find such as bullet info and load recipes as well as History and special pistols etc. check out the FILES and PHOTOS areas here as well as my idea of a database of specific loads. In...

Finally shot my 4506...this thing is a laser...

I am pretty confused about this here spring. If clearly the spring is not needed, my faith in S&W is that they never would have put it in there in the first place. So what is the purpose of the spring? What are we doing without when the spring is removed ? Scott 1006 and 4506-1 owner

    10mm historical load research

I checked into the 400 Corbon and every reference I could find complained about feed problems so I abandoned the idea. You know you could take the same weight bullet you are shooting in the 400 Corbon and load it to the same velocity in 10mm and you would have identical recoil with a lot...

    10mm historical load research

------------------------------ No doubt you are right about it kicking butt but it is well documented that Double Tap significantly exaggerates their performance. It still may be good ammo and even better than the run of the mill mild stuff but I dont like it when a company consistently...

    Police trade-ins at Buds

Are the requirements any different than buying a pistol anywhere else on the internet ? Ship only to FFL and you go and show proof you can legally own one. Right ?

Holster Trick for 4506 and 1006 owners

I should have clarified that the three Hume holsters for the Sig P220 and 226 were open bottomed holsters and while the body of the SW Pistol seemed to fit snug, the barrel of the 4506-1 did stick out the bottom an inch or so longer than the SIG guns.

Revolver better than auto for CCW?

Maybe Photoman has been reading too much Sigmund Freud stuff. If he wants self defense comfort he can get a candy bar. Of course it is all about logic as we make the tradeoffs and compromises between concealability, accuracy, power, comfort and number of rounds etc. Like a famous...

3rd Gen recoil springs and rods

I think we are in need of some standard definitions. Are you calling the guide rod bushing edges the rearward outside edges of the small disk on the end of the recoil rod? see the photo I have attached. You got me to thinking though.... I think next time I will wrap the slide in some cloth or...

    10mm historical load research

As we are all aware many ammo companies have been watering down the load recipes over the last couple of decades. I am specifically interested in finding out what the load data consisted of in the early days of 10mm back when they had what we call "full power" ammo and not the downloaded FBI...

Holster Trick for 4506 and 1006 owners

========= What size did you order and why did you pick that size ? I think we have two considerations with holster fitment... Stiffness rigidity and shape, and overall size. I have some soft leather holsters that really serve more as a pouch than a specifically boned and formed holster...
