    Pistol Caliber Carbines

I too am awfully fond of the .32-20. I'd love to find a Savage like yours.

.380 ACP: Flat-Point FMJ vs JHP

Another vote for the Winchester FMJ truncated cone bullet load. A Lyman 356632 mould, part of a pile of reloading stuff I bought, was a lucky find. It makes a 100 grain truncated cone bullet that has worked well for me. Over 4.2 grains of Unique works nicely in my .380's. Runs around 1080 fps...

What gun are you on the lookout for?

A nice 5-1/2 inch SAA in .41 Colt.

Favorite 38 spl self defense load

158 grain lead semi-wadcutters, standard velocity. If I need something more potent I have a couple .357 magnums. I am of the opinion Plus-P was the answer to pandering politicians whining about shooting bad guys with magnums.

    Found At The Range Today.................

I am still using an original Pact chronograph I bought in 1986. I bought a half dozen extra sky screens at the same time. So far, I have used three of them. As my shooting buddies eventually started getting their own chronographs the sky screen casualty rate has diminished. When this one...

Just won a .38 Regulation Police. No idea about these. Anything special?

They will likely go bang and the cases may split. 38 S&W is not a 38 Special "short". The case of the 38 S&W is larger at the head and mouth than the 38 Special.

    Duplicating the British 38-200

The NEI #169A bullet 2.0 grains of Bullseye pretty well duplicates the British service load, 200 grain bullet at 650 fps. I have shot it in British Service revolvers and Colt's Police Positives. I have not shot it any I-frame or any top-breaks other than the Enfield. Matt's bullets is the place...

    Lack of professionalism.. Opinions....

Were I the owner I would carefully explain to the manager: A. We did not need customers who assaulted our employees. B. I did not need a manager that stupid.

    Shotguns and Bayonets?

Many eons ago MPs had chromed M1917 bayonets for the Model 12 and Model 1897 shotguns. The command, "Fix, Bayonets," and the glinting of 16 inches of cold steel seemed to unnerve unruly mobs. Apparently the thought of being run through was more unsettling than the prospect of being shot.

Well It Finally Happened to Me

I've been here almost twenty years and over that time I bought maybe a half dozen guns. All the transactions went well and I was pleased with what I received. The same over at Colt forum. I've seen the scam reports and it is obvious they are getting slicker and harder to detect. Sadly, the...

    657 41 Magnum question

My one and only .41 Magnum is a Model 58 that looks rougher than a waterfront whore. The story I got was it came out of a police evidence locker in Georgia. Perhaps we now know what Billie Joe McAllister was throwing off the Tallahatchie Bridge. Regardless, it was cheap and the action is as...

Scored 36 no dash 3" today

Be careful. If she she says, "Oh, That's cute. Can I hold it?" leave the country! I found a three inch, heavy barrel, square butt Model 36-1 a few years back, but the girlfriend immediately took a shine to it. While the J-frame is ostensibly TDY at her house, I suspect that I may never get it...

In light of so many 9mm threads - list your 9mm pistols here!

That's what I said the last time this came up, then I remembered I forgot the Star BM. The first generation MPDC marked Glock 17 got overlooked, as did the G19 I took a rasp to, to get rid of the finger grooves. The ironically named Tisas M1911A1 US Army came in a recent trade, oh and I almost...

    Iver Johnson, once again

Some of you may have figured out that I am fond of those old Owlhead revolvers. The latest find ticks about all the uncommon Iver Johnson boxes. A "large frame" two inch barrel Cycle Model, blue instead of the standard nickel finish, and six shots of .32 S&W Long. Not bad looking for a gun...

.22 wheel gun with a decent da trigger?

The .22 revolver with the best DA trigger here is a Colt Officer's Model Match. The Model 17 is a very close second. The Model 34 Kit Gun is adequate for what it is.
