S&W Sport II - assistance in mounting a light needed + Optic recommendations

Ah, the front sight on an AR is also the gas block. I'm not sure how high up on the tower the heat can go, but I do know that wrapping a nylon sling around the gas tube below that light will melt the sling. No clue as to how many rounds that takes.

S&W Sport II - assistance in mounting a light needed + Optic recommendations

Mag-Pul makes several short poly rail sections you might be able to mount to your current hand guard. BUT the current handguard is tapered and unless the rail section is parallel with the barrel, your light isn't going to point straight ahead. Mag-Pul also makes replacement hand guards that...

Is Deer Hunting With 22 LR Legal Anywhere?

Pennsylvania didn't/doesn't allow semi auto rifles for hunting. However, back in the 1950s-1970s converting M1 carbines to manual operation was popular in some circles. Kits were available that allowed the moderately mechanically skilled to convert their carbines. IIRC, a replacement item for...

    Things I (re)learned about chronographs

I rediscovered a partial box of Speer LSWCHPs and decided to try a few. The first thing I relearned was just how much fun cleaning a gun when using soft lead bullets wasn't. But the thing that drove me bananas was my chrono readings. The first round clocked at 200 f/s and the second at 1300 f/s...

    S&W 350PD 22mag shooting low

4-5 inches low at 20 feet may well be your trigger press rather than sights. Has someone else shot it? Have you shot it with the gun supported? Or, wonder if the original owner "improved it"?

Durned if I ever saw such hard, tight primers!

Can you get a size on the flash hole? Lee makes a cheap-but good-decap die for the smaller flash hole found in a lot of match brass. Replacement pins are the whole assembly. If you're trying to force a standard size primer punch through a smaller hole, that could account for the extra force...

YouTube has truly gone down the tubes as far as trustworthiness, ethics and the truth are concerned!

I've got to qualify a point made above. Editors are generally selected for their ability to choose and edit content so it'll appeal to the readers. If they happen to be technically competent, that's a bonus but immaterial to their actual job. They often rely on the reputation of the author...

Perfected my AC drip line flush procedure - takes 60 seconds now!

This depends upon just how long and complicated your condensate drain lines. But one of the issues in many drain lines is the use of 90 degree fittings in the line. Our upstairs unit had 6. After I replaced 2 of them (closest to the AC unit) with 2 45 degree fittings to improve water flow, the...

    HomeSmith Trainwreck: Bottom Feeders

Never heard of the "recommended method" of plunger tube removal. Unless the original staking was really lacking in vigor, I'd hesitate to reuse them....unless you're willing to add a wee dab of red Loc-Tite.

Number 8 shows great wisdom. Dunno about game preserves, but I recall one of those "wildlife experience" places in Kalifornistan that closed after one of the lions smashed a windshield and dragged a guy over for dinner.

Archival Observations – The Widow Craw (nee Wesson)

Neat. OK, there was some degree of personal contact there to start with, but it'd be nice if senior executives would take some personal interest in their customers. Beyond making sure the credit card was good-and they have minions for that.

Number 8-we really need something like that with today's drivers. And, the thing about cleaning. Isn't restricted to rooms.

MP 15 Sport III serious FTF

Well, one of the problems is that we talk to customer service reps. Ghu only knows what they transmit to the techs who actually have to evaluate the item in question and fix it. It does help to get a boiled down exact description of the issue in question and the circumstances in which it...

OK, given your summary, apologies. Now then, type up a concise detailed version like you just posted, include photos of the cartridges in the magazines and send that to S&W customer service. You might get better results via snail mail. I'm not familiar with the S&W test fire protocol, they may...

OK, the rifle was (supposed to be) function fired at the factory. First off, check the magazine springs to make sure they were installed correctly. It's unlikely that all the mags would have this issue, but it's worth checking. Now then, you state "stacked to capacity". The normal practice...
