    K frame 38 vs 357 cylinder metallurgy?

I have to admit it doesn't make any sense from a production standpoint to have separate material and heat treat specs for items that appear to be identical. That's only introducing complications/expense in the production process and inventory control. And, as they now say" it's setting yourself...

    Convince Me......Universal Decapper Die

OK, I reuse it. The various militaries seem to regard cartridge cases as one use and done. I've also observed before that DOD manufacturing specs don't seem to view SAAMI as a production standard to emulate. Especially with regard to primer pockets.

    Convince Me......Universal Decapper Die

I repurpose a lot of mil spec brass. Pop the primer out, swage the pocket and then into the cleaning process before sizing.

#s 2, 9, 10 & 11. Although it took me a bit to realize the widget in the picture was a copier, not whatever they use these days to transmit fingerprints.

    TROUBLE WITH LATEST WINDOWS UPDATE?

If you've got Windows 10, you may not have a choice on updating to 11. I was putting off updating and then one morning, lo, I had 11. And, despite having bought the latest Windows 11 for Dummies, not everything works like the book says it should. Maybe I have Windows 10.5?

    HomeSmith Trainwreck: Bottom Feeders

Minor tip on the disconnector: the flat plate that engages the trigger bow has sharp corners at the top where the lower legs of the sear go past. Very slightly breaking those edges (front and rear) makes the sear's movement cleaner.

    TROUBLE WITH LATEST WINDOWS UPDATE?

Tried to post a reply and the 'puter locked up. Again. It's the bleeping code monkeys. Back before I bought a home PC, I read a bunch of journals. The item that stuck in my mind was a really senior guy who bemoaned the onset of cheap memory. When memory was expensive, code had to be concise...

    Speer vs Buffalo Bore

With all due respect to the LuckyGunner dude, I have to have deep doubts about his "winter clothing" substitute. I don't happen to have any winter clothing I'm willing to shoot hole in, but the difference in penetration seems strange. To the point I'd have done multiple tests. If the recoil...

AA#9 158 JHP 357 Chrono Results and BC Gap Question

Just to get comparison data you might want to break down and run some factory ammo across the chronograph. You also need to realize that not every chamber in the cylinder is identical. Finally, velocity uniformity only really matters when you're shooting waaaay out there as it affects bullet...

    Why is this happening

Revisited the thread and noted this line, knew I'd forgotten something when I replied earlier: "but seeing as this load (8.4 gr Power Pistol) is almost a full grain below max, not sure why this is happening?" In my Hornady manual, 8.4 gr with a 180 XTP IS max, and I was getting the same ~1150...

    Why is this happening

First, you mention that the primers have a tiny crack in the pin indent. Check your firing pins, the ends are supposed to be round, without sharp points. If you've got a crack in the primer indent, you have gas leakage that's eroding the breech face. May be a defect in the primer cup material...

    weighing reloads

I just went through this.......turns out Speer 158 gr LSWCHP have weight variation you'd like to see in rifle match bullets. Case weight, even same brand, was another story. Maybe if your cases all came from the same production lot you might have a chance, but I doubt it. It's amazing just how...

    Are We At War Now?

Attorney Alan Dershowitz (sp?) has a book about situations like this and what resulted from inaction by the rest of the world. Not only a fine legal mind, but not a raving political figure. Like a lot of critical thinkers, not in favor with those whose positions he doesn't support.
