Like you, no 6xx S&Ws, but my 43 year old 25-2 is a delight to shoot and more accurate than I have any right to expect. Never shot ACP in it. Auto Rim reloads only. Still have 4-500 hundred new AR brass after all these years.

My last "new" S&W revolver purchase was in 2021. It was a "new in the box" 27-2 with a 5-inch barrel made in 1975. My previous "new" buy was a 29-2 with a 8 3/8" barrel made in 1978.

I earlier posted a picture of the barrel attachment lug on the Model 46 barrel. It has no machines cutout. Here is a picture of a Model 41 barrel lug for comparison. Left picture is the 41. Right is the 46. The lack of the cutout is why the 46 barrel will not seat in either of my Model 41s.

Model 46 Barrel Update Here are pics. Note flat barrel top, no cutout in the barrel lug (will not fit in a 41), no recessed muzzle, barrel weight & screw, etc.

No recessed target crown, top of barrel is not ribbed, rear site is smooth finish and slightly smaller. Final point is that it will not fit on the 41. I.e., trigger guard will not close. I read somewhere that the 46 barrels are not machined for the trigger adjustment like the 41s. Not...

Opinions on this subject will be endless. For my two cents, if you can find a used Remington 513-T, you will not be disappointed. Used for early training (mostly new shooters) in boot camp in the early 60s before moving to .30 cal rifles. We also used them in Boy Scouts in the 50s.

Reading the replies makes me wonder if I am the only one reloading for his 25-2 using 45 Auto Rim brass? Shoots great. My 25-5 in 45 Colt shoots just fine too. Both were made in 1980 and the bluing is still impressive.
