    Am I Nuts ?

Another vote for the 442 with FBI load. A 3" 686 is good and a 696 is nice if you can find one. .44 Mag is good for the woods.

    Approximate value of a 25-9?

This is the best Smith .45 Colt with all the upgrades and proper throats. I had not seen but two and bought both. Foolishly sold one. This is a must have for S&W .45 Colt fans. Buy it and pay what you must because these are scarce as hen's teeth.

A Lew Horton 24-3....or is it? PICS

My favorite carry N-frame ... 624 3" is not a Lew Horton gun. Same exact weapon. If you are not a LH collector, who cares?

Why do some prefer the 442 over the 642?

Ditto on the color for concealment value. Black gun in black ankle holster on black socks in black shoes. Works for me.

    Silhouette 44 magnum

29-3 Silhouette models were criticized by silhouette shooters who used heavy bullets that caused cylinders to unlock under recoil. Not a good thing. S&W introduced the Endurance Package (EP) on the 29-3E to fix the problem, but it wasn't enough until the 29-5 finalization of the EP. See...

    642 VS 442

I've never really considered my 442-1 a blued gun. It has more of a black coating that reminds me of Walter Birdsong's Black-T. I find it to be very durable as my gun looks like new after years of CCW.

    The Gun FAQs

624/629 Cylinder Recall The Skeeter Skelton article in the October 1985 issue of Shooting Times magazine stated: "A steel supplier has just advised Smith & Wesson that they shipped a very small quantity of incorrect stainless steel material (11 bars) to us that was not in accordance with their...
