If you could only pick 2 ultimate classics

Can't get more classic than the Model 10 or any of the earlier variants. Before the frame mounted firing pin and of course before the lock. I don't even consider the new Model 10's without the lock to be classic. Once they stopped pinning the barrel, they're not really classic to me. Been...

    S&W CXS 9mm Pistol

They should just bring back the CS9 with the option of manual safety and DAO. Make them with the Delrin grips and not those fat Houge grips. The made them once before. That would be my carry gun. My shield plus is fine but I just prefer a hammer fired gun for carry.

    Opinions on Bodyguard .380................

I’m happy with my M&P BG380 1.0. Never a failure of any kind and most of the rounds fired were my own reloads. 6 rounds is fine for my purpose.

    Primer prices-the new normal

I’ll be satisfied if I can walk back into my local shop and pick up a brick of primers without crossing my fingers hoping they’ll be there when I pull up. At my shooting level, I’d pay $75-$80 a brick without complaining too much.

    LEO Marked S&W Semi-Autos

Here's my 5946 from Garden City PD, on Long Island, NY. I grew up 2 towns over from there. Garden City is a big bucks area to live. Very small village and department. I also have 2 NYPD 5946's and an early 3953TSW with the 7 round magazines. None are marked as NYPD but I know they are. The...

    S&W 5926 (Decocker) Buy? Problematic?

I have a thread on here from a month or so ago on a 5926 I saw in my local shop. It had the recall done but was a bit scuffed up. I’m a huge 3rd gen fan and was initially very excited to see it, but it had the square trigger guard that I hate and the decocker looked like an afterthought. It’s...

Let's see your Law Enforcement Marked Smiths!

I stumbled onto this M&P .38 in a local shop a few years ago. I figured it for an NYPD gun since it had a shield number in the backstrap, but the number was applied sloppily unlike the others of the time. A letter to S&W confirmed it was shipped to the NYPD in October of 1946. I reached out to...

Let's see your Law Enforcement Marked Smiths!

There is an interesting story behind the cancellation of the 520 for the NYSP. The troopers had been using the Model 10-6 in .357 Magnum that S&W made especially for them. When that model became a hit, the Model 13 was born. But the troopers qualified with their duty .357 ammo and it became...

    Cannot insert full magazine

It will chamber the round. If you wa t to carry with a full magazine inserted into a closed slide then either slap it in really hard with authority or down load it by one round. I guess the world has changed. A family friend of ours had his son over and he just graduated from the trooper...

    Cannot insert full magazine

The desire to cram as many rounds into a magazine while still making the magazine as small as possible created this issue. Same thing happens with my Shield Plus magazines. Any magazine that requires an Uplula to fully load means there’s virtually no space left in that magazine and when a...

    Sharing 3913TSW

If you send the slide to Trijicon they’ll install those night sights with no problems. That’s all they do and they do it well. And twelve years from now they’ll replace the lamps for a small fee.

    NY-1 question

If we only knew then what we know now. Guys were selling their DAO NYPD marked revolvers for like $100 to pay for the night sights for their new free 9MM. Now they go for over a grand.

    NY-1 question

Early 64’s weren’t. By 1989-1990 they were. And the serial number was also laser etched under the cylinder so cops who changed grips could have the serial number checked at qualification. The Model 60 wasn’t around long enough for it. They were soon unauthorized due to light primer strikes...

Shot it and then Bought it

I'd Sure Like To Have THAT S&W Back

A Model 19-2 that looked absolutely unfired with matching diamond Target stocks. Pinned and recessed. I walked into my local shop about 12 years ago and saw it for $249! Young kid, and son of the owner who had unfortunately taken the day off and left the shop to be run by his idiot son, said...

    Really sad

Once you believe you’re infallible, you’re more apt to fail? I agree with that. Problem is many people on this very forum have said they don’t need a magazine disconnect or even a manual safety because they “have trained to keep their finger off the trigger”, so those very people actually DO...

Rust Protection Removal fron New S&W 66-8

Never knew anybody who actually used the the key lock, but I’m sure you’ll find somebody who does. I know I never did in my old 642.

Rust Protection Removal fron New S&W 66-8

I have some of that Elite Gun Cleaner and it works well. Also bought a gallon of MPro7 which is basically the same thing. Works Well and is non toxic. But guns don’t feel clean to me if they don’t smell like Hoppes #9.

    Really sad

Agree with virtually all you said, but people make mistakes, as Bill Jordan did, you did, I did, and many others here. The benefits of a magazine disconnect far outweigh the one real drawback (sometimes affects the trigger pull, but even that is a tiny drawback), and the imagined drawback of...

    Really sad

Yeah. A decades long professional gunfighter and professional shooter violated two rules. You think you can’t? Oh, that’s right. You did. 40 years ago. I did as well. 30 years ago. Doesn’t mean I never will again. And I’m against suing gun makers as well. None of my comments were directed at...
