From your description and pictures the gun looks to have honest wear from use, not abuse, after all it is over 60 years old, the grips can be replaced with others you like for minimum cost, these K-38s in target or combat are some of my favorites and are fine shooters, if it helps I just paid...

Had a bolt ruger rifle that was new to me, problems with the bolt and cartridge sticking in the chamber, I took it to a gunsmith friend and he told me the problem was WD-40 that had built up inside and turned sticky over time, after that never used it...

Picked up this 65-3 4 inch for 400, came with a box of ammo and speed loader , I think I did OK ...

Details OK, I have Been lurking on this site for a while and love it, the nickel gun is a 38 M&P from around 1914 round butt ,it has been renickeled and has the wrong grips but is a heck of a shooter, got it for 200 with the vintage holster, the blue gun is a 38 M&P from 1932 with stag grips...

Its just the lid for the M&P in front of it..
