M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

After seeing multiple photos from multiple people, I added another to the list of known problems Magazine Spacer Split In Half - On extended OEM magazines (more than 10rds) the plastic spacer above the base plate can split in half, even without being dropped.

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

I've thought about this quite a bit and plan to tackle the subject this spring or summer on my Shield Plus if I can get it to a point where it's reliable. It's currently at S&W warranty for a 4th time in a row. Dot confusion between the optic and laser would likely be an issue if they're the...

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

Them are fightin' words 'round here (joke) I wanted to specifically focus on the bottom of the gun where weapon lights and lasers live. It seems like there's been a lot of threads discussing the merits of dots and similar optics over the recent past. I tried the laser only solution for a...

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

You make good points again, the burden of proof is a great one. I can see how an anti-2a prosecutor potentially could twist and contort a situation, especially in some states with some circumstances. I suppose it's all situation dependent and there isn't a single solution that works right for...

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

Thanks for your kind words and for your great post. I think that with your specific experience, expertise, and skill set, a lot of people would benefit greatly if you choose to share your knowledge. I hope you do. Perspective like yours is of great value. As a country, we probably have more...

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

Specifically regarding my original post for this thread, your observation is not entirely off the mark. I do however want to draw a distinction between people who say idiotic things and people who truly are idiots... There's a difference, but let's not pretend that the internet is devoid of...

Weapon lights and lasers on M&P pistols... useless???

There appears to be some who want to have this debate. Instead of continuing to hijack threads of a different topic, let's just discuss it here. I personally find great value in weapon attachments, others apparently think that they're the dumbest thing in the history of things. Debate is...

    M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 with thumb safety-discontinued?

Holster manufacturers can't make molds and holsters for every light/gun combo. Furthermore a lot of the weapon light options are pure junk and the holster companies know it. In the case of the M&P Shield, because there's no rail, the bulk of what's available molds to the trigger guard, and has...

    M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 with thumb safety-discontinued?

Your reading comprehension skills seem selective at best. Yes there's an aftermarket rail adapter for the Shield, but you give up holster availability, which then means the gun can't realistically be carried. I think that you fundamentally don't understand how a weapon light should be used in...

    M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 with thumb safety-discontinued?

You guys might want to consider moving to a communist country... There's less choices and often times everyone is required to do things exactly the same way. You might be the types of people who like it. I carry a M&P Shield with a TLR6 mounted to it and I insist on having a weapon light...

    M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 with thumb safety-discontinued?

It's much more than a small minority. Based on the private Facebook fan groups for S&W that I'm a member of, I can see there's a lot of Shield owners who want a rail. Almost every day someone posts in those groups looking for a holster because they've attached a rail adapter and some kind of...

    M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 with thumb safety-discontinued?

S&W needs to move onto a M&P 3.0, especially for the Shield Enlarge the front of the trigger guard, get the trigger shoe right, add a rail, move the current PC sear into all models, make sure the slide stop works as a slide release, add a threaded barrel option, dump the PC ports and add a 4"...

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

The M&P Compact, like the full size, is probably rock solid. With the Shield Plus specifically, people should check two things. One is to make sure the trigger bar gets underneath the sear instead of just a corner to corner contact point. The other is to make sure the safety plunger can reset...

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

If you say so... In my opinion and in my experience, it starts with good leadership.

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

That can be resolved (much faster than what you'd think) by firing fast and then hiring slow, based on qualifications and cultural compatibility. Edit: There are rumors, now perpetuated by the YouTuber named Chuke, of S&W pursuing diversity requirements over qualifications as their hiring...

    Shield .45 appendix carry

Definitely the risks are not exactly the same. Strong-side carry = 0% chance of shooting yourself in the junk Appendix carry = non-zero percent chance of shooting yourself in the junk With a ND or UD, no doubt the price of failure is probably going to be higher with appendix carry. For many...

    Shield .45 appendix carry

I like most of you guys but at times some of you are like a bunch of Neanderthals running around with an atlatl. CCW tactics will continue to evolve... ask anyone who shoots one-handed while reminding everyone else that it's a "handgun" and not a "handsgun" There's way too many people who...

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

The first center fired gun I fired in my life, when I was 12, which was 1992, was a Smith & Wesson model 15 revolver from the early 1970's. Since then (until recently) I've held Smith & Wesson in very high regard. I've owned my Shield 2.0 PC for going on 3 years and have carried it daily. I...

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

Thats good. You probably have a good copy and like my old Shield 2.0, it'll probably last and last. Like I said previously, I'll still vouch for the design of the Shield Plus. The problems are arising out of deficiencies in quality control and inconsistencies in S&W's manufacturing processes.

M&P Shield Plus - Known Issues

I'm speaking specifically of the Shield Plus and nothing else. Furthermore this is not a court of law. I've had many of these issues myself in my Shield Plus, I have other copies of the Shield Plus available to me through my circle of friends, I've gone to multiple stores and examined their...
