Rather scarce Colt New Service stocks found at local show

That’s a crazy price. I have the 4” and 6 1/2” but missed the boat on the LHorton model.

And you even have the not so common gun for that particular holster which makes it even more of a destiny for you to encounter it.

Rather scarce Colt New Service stocks found at local show

The nickel 1930 New Service .45 Colt they are on is mine. I could really use the money and sell the grips but they are perfectly contemporary to the gun being made in this form in 1926. I lettered the gun twice but Colt could find no info on it. So the originality of the finish can never be...

Rather scarce Colt New Service stocks found at local show

Was there a wood shortage in the seven or so years after WW2? My 1952 Cobra had those “Coltwood” grips on it and the gun now has stags. But the originals are stored away of course. They were so cheap they weren’t even solid plastic but hollow. That vender did have some but I didn’t notice the...

Rather scarce Colt New Service stocks found at local show

I was at a gun show a mile from my house and it was a bust, except one guy had the stuff I, and most everyone here are into. Various old sixgun parts and grips. I took pictures of them front and back, rushed home, posted them on Colt Forum, and was immediately urged, I mean told to go get them...

Visiting the "High Noon" church filming location yesterday

Here’s a local guy I like visiting the film locations for the movie. He points out an air conditioner in a window during the final showdown. We also passed a grocery store that was the robbery location from the early 70s Peter Fonda car chase caper “Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry”. High Noon secret...

Visiting the "High Noon" church filming location yesterday

We were in the old gold rush town of Sonora yesterday like every year and I finally drove up the road a ways to Tuolumne City to see the white church used in "High Noon". Parts of the movie were also filmed in the preserved gold rush town of Columbia, a really cool state park now. I liked the...

Storing photos at ImgBB. I'm having problems there, Are you?

It’s back to normal now, but my pictures are not all visible like before in my profile but now have to be scrolled up to find something. I can live with that.

    Social Security at 62?

I signed up this year at 66. I didn’t mind waiting and besides that, time flew fast since I was 62. We never hurt for money in those four years and I’m just fine having waited increasing the amount.

    Attention married Yellowstone fans

Sometimes I just bite my tongue. it’s occasionally better to just to shut up and eat a feces sandwich and let her have the last word than let a trivial thing turn into a big one and ruin the whole day. other times you have to take stand. In other words and big cliche alert; choose your battles.

    Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

By the late 1980s I had read about gunfighter John Wesley Hardin having used a vest with two holsters sewn onto it worn concealed under a coat. Elmer Keith mentioned it in Sixguns, too. So I decided to make one. There were no photos of such a rig so I had to work from scratch. The end results...

    Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

I just finished this lefty sheath for my son for Christmas. He's a great meat chef and this knife is for camp cooking. The belt loop is off center because I thought it would look weird in the center with the handle towards the back. So I put it there and kind of contoured the shape slightly to...

Visiting Kehlsteinhaus (Eagles Nest) in Austria

Good timing in Germany and nine hours well spent. Here's a statue in the Salzburg park with a guy I got a kick out of having a good time. Also, we went to the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart.

I've got a piece of hard rock candy.

I was 19 visiting Virginia with friends to experience the giant bicentennial celebration in Washington DC. The movie just came out and some guys said how great it was so we went, too. Then my friend and I hitchhiked home to California.

Visiting Kehlsteinhaus (Eagles Nest) in Austria

I don’t know. we just looked at from the outside while walking around. I assumed his family lived in an apartment there. I did not realized Salzburg was such a small city. Looks like just over 150,000 people. I saw something there I’ve never seen before. a tour bus quickly converted to a boat...

Visiting Kehlsteinhaus (Eagles Nest) in Austria

Wandering through those old tight little streets that Amadeus once strolled through, making a point of eating what I’ve never tried before, drinking endless beers that I have never seen, no one bashing in shop windows to steal stuff, totally safe late at night in the beautiful Salzburg city...

Visiting Kehlsteinhaus (Eagles Nest) in Austria

Three weeks ago I went to Germany with a friend to visit my son who's a private contractor working on an American base there. Three hours to beautiful Austria where we took a bus up to the Kehlsteinhaus then hiked back down. It was very strange being where all those ghouls relaxed when not...

    Model 10 inherited

What years were that type of hammer spur used, late 40s-early 50s? i”m sure no expert on this. Looks like S&W put new grips on it later. I love Diamond grips original to the era and even put them on later guns. I would put some on this very nice and sentimental gun.
