Old full boxes of .38-44 N.M #3 ammo

I assume that’s what it is because when I saw the round nose (or round ball?) seated deep in the case like wad cutters, sort of. The gun shop just bought a gun collection that included tons of old ammo like this but haven’t sorted it out yet. I’ll be going back soon. Oh. that gun is a Colt .38...

New Model No.3 .44Rus smokeless or no?

Colt New Services, both standard and target models, and the SAA/Bisleys post 1900 and before the .44 Special arrived in 1908 (I think) were factory guns of the era the smokeless Russian loads were tailored to. My rechambered 1900 Bisley .44 Special is right when smokeless was OK according to...

My very first, AND my most recent single action

In 1983 I was staying at my parents for a while and my teenage sister’s boyfriend stole that Ruger. We went to the closest police station and my dad brought the original receipt. Amazingly the officer at the counter walked in back and came out with the gun! It turns out that punk used it to...

My very first, AND my most recent single action

Here’s my Single Six I carried everywhere I could outdoors when I was a kid, getting it for my 14th birthday in 1971. Price was $64, I believe. And with it is the unfired Colt .44-40 I got most recently. I guess it’s true that our “toys” just get more expensive when we get older. I added the...

I just bought this 1919 M&P .38 so I could put these pearls on it

When I first saw “The Cullpepper Cattle Company” when I was around 15 I got a set of Jay Scott mother-of-plastic grips for my old model Ruger Single Six .22. I thought actor Geoffrey Lewis was so cool with his Pearl handled Colt in that movie. That was my first single action. Pictured here with...

I just bought this 1919 M&P .38 so I could put these pearls on it

Well, partly, anyway. I’ve been hankerin’ for a very common 6” M&P .38 Special that didn’t cost much and got this one. and I wanted a home for these thin $30 pearl grips I bought over 20 years ago. They just didn’t jive with my later K frames. I really like old blue worn patina DAs that have...

    Leather home made Christmas gifts

As I recall, I made this sheath for a Western brand Bowie, but this knife is much cooler and matches the sheath great. Or is it the Western with an antler handle added? Thanks for giving me full creative license on this project.

    Leather home made Christmas gifts

Yes, and a lot in my past. here’s a thread featuring forum member’s leatherwork. Maybe I should have posted these sheaths there instead. My first holster pictures are in post #13. but check out all the great stuff by other leathersmiths here. Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

    Leather home made Christmas gifts

Here’s three of four sheaths I made for family members and a bag for my wife’s phone. She’s Mex. American and we like Mexican “Day Of The Dead” artwork so I tried that this time. But I did not make them up. I hijacked the images found online. Last time I drew our cat Hunter on a bag for her.

    Ruger .45 Colt

I shot my friend’s three screw 4 5/8” .45 and I told him how special it is being only a year or two in production until the safety change. I would think some of these had been shot with extremely heavy hand loads when they first came out.

Which Shiloh Sharps rifle would YOU choose?

I recall Garrett Arms making an 1874 Sharps that had a heavy barrel and cleaning rod like a Hawken. Something I’m sure was done in the 1870s. I really like the Cimarron Texas Ranger carbine in .50-70 made to look like the conversions they carried with the higher percussion hammer. I think it’s...

Which Shiloh Sharps rifle would YOU choose?

I bought three Shiloh Sharps rifles in the early 90s (see pics below) and kept one that I still have. I don’t buy long guns anymore but looking at this Shiloh web page I did pick one I would choose if I did. It would be a Hartford Model, .50-70, military butt stock, and straight heavy 28” 1/2...

    An unusual Model 13-2

I live just outside of Sacramento city limits and never saw one of those guns you have. Rather than ask you to post a picture I found this earlier thread here about them. A couple years ago I was looking at a used Model 36 in a local shop and the owner said it cannot be used for concealed...

Pre War N frame Sambar stags with P/W medallions.

I was hooked on sambar stags since the early 80s when I’d buy them sight unseen from Melvin Tyler for $35 and they were always great. then Ajax and Eagle in the the 90s for around $95. I remember seeing these and thinking I usually don’t go for big patches of bark area but not in this case. They...

Mod 28s converted to 44 spl

What is very special to me about your gun here and the Model 28 conversion in question are the recessed chambers. Or it looks like it, anyway. I can’t enlarge the picture on the 4” 28. That feature is a big deal to me. Very classy.

Did I pay too much ??

That price is just fine, in fact very good, though I would of course preferred the original diamond grips on it. I found a set of perfect 1962 magnas on Craig’s List for $40 for my Model 18 of the same year.

Sammy Davis JR & Jerry Lewis gun spinning

Yeah, just for a couple laughs he let it hit the floor a couple times. I saw somewhere that for the film “Winchester 73” the studio gave James Stewart a ‘73 rifle to take home and practice handling and levering it so he would look like he knew what he’s doing. It sure worked! The final...

Sammy Davis JR & Jerry Lewis gun spinning

You’re right about that. I do it over a bed. I already put a dent in our hard wood floor spinning an 1875 Remington repro. During Covid lock down I was bored and made this video sending it to my 87 year old friend Jim Martin who is an expert 2 gun twirler and fast draw champ. He told me over the...

Sammy Davis JR & Jerry Lewis gun spinning

We all know SDavis JR was a great gun handler, but I only read about Jerry Lewis being good at it. Except in the Martin-Lewis western comedy “Pardners” where he and Dean Martin twirl their guns in one scene. I just found this of both guys together. Lewis banters and plays it for laughs too much...

Picked up a Model 14 no dash at auction today

Herrett’s are nice grips but I thought the checkering and everything else about these are of higher quality. So I checked what others had to say. I like them, except I’m left handed. Minty 14-3s are commonly sold for $600 here in overpriced CA. So this older one with those grips are a good score.
