    EBay format change?

I don’t buy stuff on EBay much but I noticed the format changed when you search for a particular item. Instead of pages of pictures of various sellers, now it shows a seller’s ad real big and the other ads are on the left much smaller and harder to see. Is this happening to you too and if so, is...

Simmons Hardware shipped 1894 Frontier Six Shooter get used.

Nice gun! I bought a similar one a few years ago which is a renickeled 1890 Colt Frontier Sixshooter with a barrel shortened to 5”. I don’t reload .44-40 but I do have a spare prewar Colt .44 Special cylinder that fits this gun perfectly. But I haven’t shot it with my black powder .44 Spl...

    “Shane! I hate you!!!”.

That’s what the kid in the movie said, anyway. In 1969 I was 12 and saw “Once Upon A Time In The West” and Henry Fonda as “Frank” made a huge impression with his shiny long barreled Colt. Two years later I saw “Shane” with his similar gun for the first time. I liked that version of the Colt ever...

*Update With Photos* .45 Colt Bisley Frankengun

Had the store owners put pictures like you you took of the gun for their Guns International ad I saw that gun would have sold faster and at a much higher price. It looks great. The front sight is much nicer than they appeared in the ad, too. Normally I wouldn’t like stags that thick but for a...

    Kris Kristofferson has passed

A very impressive guy who was a helicopter pilot in the military then decided to be a songwriter, got a job as janitor at a recording studio hoping it would lead to his songs published which they were. Then he makes his own records and later becoming a really good actor. That’s all pretty...

    Is a 3913 a good gun?

When my son was discharged from the Marines I gave him a police trade in Beretta 92. He said he’d rather have my S&W 3913 so it’s his now. It’s a great gun and $400 is a real good price, IMO. I replaced my 3913 with a 1980 nickel 39-2.

    44-40 round?

I have a black powder only 1992 John Gren 1860 Colt conversion in .44 Special and loaded it with 23 grains BP topped off with corn meal to compress. that worked great and it smelled like burning bread when I fired it. This was before the Italians started making conversions later on. 215 grain...

    The Bisley Model

Here’s Steve McQueen, I mean Nevada Smith drawing his long barreled Bisley on Martin Landau. Bisley’s are awkward out of a holster but once your aiming it…. Steve McQueen: when you kill my mother and father Nevada Smith, 1966 - YouTube

    44-40 round?

That is my favorite Kirk Douglas movie. I read that it was his personal favorite, too. Now I have to dig it up somewhere so I can spot your gun’s cameo appearance. Gena Rowlands is one of my top three actresses of all time.

    The Bisley Model

My least favorite SAA barrel length is 5 1/2", but on Bisleys I like them all. This ivory handled one is perfect. About 12 years ago I bought a .32-20 for $500 because it had a bulge in the barrel. My friend had given me an unmarked 7 1/2" .44 Special barrel and I already had a pre war .44...

    44-40 round?

I reload .44 Special but not .44-40 but I have a .44 Spl cylinder that works perfectly in my 1890 Colt SAA .44-40. But I really don’t trust shooting .429 bullets in a probably .427 bore, blackpowder only of course. Overly cautious, you think? I just picked up a 1984 Colt Frontier Sixshooter...

How I got this Colt Frontier Sixshooter for “only” $1560.

I saw “Once Upon A Time…” when it came out in 1969. I was twelve. Henry Fonda’s 7 1/2” nickeled Colt was the first motivating factor that made me want one eventually. Then around 1971 a movie came on TV called Shane. Wow! That sealed the deal for me. That version of the SAA has been my favorite...

*Update With Photos* .45 Colt Bisley Frankengun

I know what gun you’re talking about. I’m an hour from that gun shop. The grips are really nice sambar stags. At least $300 worth right there. As I recall, the barrel is 2nd generation with a ramp front sight added. Not as nicely done as Kings would do it. The cylinder was pre war. I’m not fond...

How I got this Colt Frontier Sixshooter for “only” $1560.

And it only took 19 years to get here! The following are OTD prices. In 2005 I bought a maybe 70% 1904 1st Issue Colt Officer’s Model .38 Spl. for $325. In 2017 I traded it and $200 for a well worn 1895 .30-40 Winchester. In 2021 I traded the ‘95 plus $600 for a like NIB 3rd generation Colt SAA...

Is this a 1917 in the picture?

Yeah, the ring has a distinct look that someone out there would probably recognize. And he might not be left handed but holding the gun that way to look around tgat rock.

    Colt New Service 45 Colt

That is a fantastic N.S. In the most desirable barrel length. I took a group shot of some grips to sell on Colt Forum including these original ones foe a N.S.Since they were actually not correct for my 1930 gun. And I just found these fleur-dis-li wood ones for it which are contemporary to the...

    Gunshow .455 Triplelock!

Whenever I see one of these shown here I think of that paragraph in “Sixguns By Keith” where a bear charged one of Keith’s friends and another guy on horseback “pulled his glove off with his teeth”, drew his S&W with heavy .455 hand loads and killed the bear instantly. One of endless exciting...

    S&W 24-3 Model 1950 .44 Special

I saw the Skeeter Skelton 1983 article from the Shooting Times I still have about the reintro of the 24, now called the 24-3. While going thru a divorce I still managed to buy a new four incher from, I believe, the Southern Ohio gun exchange or something like that in Shotgun News. $375 total was...

    S&W 24-3 Model 1950 .44 Special

These are very desirable guns because they are so loyal to the originals, minus the top side plate screw I think. I have a 4” and 6 1/2” 24-3 and the longer one is very accurate. I am pretty sure those OP grips are Mustang brand.

    Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

When my son moves back to the U.S. from Germany I’m going to transfer this S&W 442 to him. I made him this IWB holster for it some years back. We are both lefties. Yesterday I decided to try it out. I wore it all day up in the Sierras hanging out with family and nobody noticed it under my black...
