If considering buying a worn Model 94 Winchester, what about a NIB commemorative?

I have given up on rifles but I always wanted one of these muskets. they are so cool. This and the stubby Legendary Lawman like Faulkner posted are my faves when it comes to commemoratives. I do not like gold trim except the 1966 rifle that came with a gold frame in tribute to the 1866.

    Guns of Tombstone

That’s a creepy thought, but when you look at the real Belle Starr, you got a point. The babe playing Belle Starr in The Long Riders was excellent, realistic, and they purposely didn’t make her all glamorous. EDIT: Oops.Kind of off topic as this was about Tombstone.

    Guns of Tombstone

This a great movie and I think historically correct, except the Jesse James committing suicide by assassination part. I assume Ford used a NM3 S&W but who knows. The ridiculous Tyrone Power movie was typical 1930s whitewashing. The Robert Wagner one that Mauser9 mentioned was much better...

    Guns of Tombstone

I think it was American Handgunner who did a big article about the guns used in the movie and armorer Thell Reed. Sam Elliott used that pearl/nickelNew Model 3, but Kurt Russell also wore an identical NM3 in the scene where he meets and rides horses with his future wife and when he finds Virgil...

    Blackhawk part 2

I couldn’t convert it back to original fast enough if it was mine. I traded for a converted old model Super Blackhawk only because the old parts were included. The gun felt weird and rattled with the new parts. It was back to original real quick.

    Elmer Keith followed me home.......

One of my best friends since high school showed me through his safes last year and he pulled out an unfired Keith commemorative like this that I had no clue he had. But I was even more turned on when he showed me an unfired 5” 27-2in box with all goodies.

    Identify an old revolver

If not S&W it’s the nicest foreign copy I’ve ever seen. I was convinced at first it was a 2nd Model Russian with the grip hump and trigger spur removed. And the barrel shortened with new front sight. Usually Spanish or Belgium copies are out of proportion in the grip and frame areas.

Two old Colts in classic holsters

Here’s an older thread from another forum when I found the holster and the possible Ian Flaming/James Bond connection or influence as brought up by Red Nichols… Just found a Berns-Martin IWB Det. Spl. holster | Colt Forum

Two old Colts in classic holsters

Thanks. I checked my serial # and it is 178XX LW which looks like late 1952, according to Proofhouse and the RL Wilson Colt book. I think yours might be even earlier, 1951. Mine has little finish left. I think it was carried forever but not shot much. I have the original “Coltwood” grips...

Two old Colts in classic holsters

Here’s a ‘52 Cobra .38 Special in “the only surviving Berns-Martin IWB holster”, as it is described in the revised edition of the classic book “Holstery” by forum members Nichols and Witty. And a 1930 Police Positive .38 S&W in a Folsom Audley holster. Old Colt New Police ammo will get finished...

    NM#3 Target in .22 Caliber

Nice gun and a timely thread. I was thinking of selling my .22 Target Model but have no clue what such a gun is worth. It was converted from .44 Russian in the 1920s by a railroad blacksmith/machinist. I bought it from his grandson. The extractor system is amazing. The barrel was lined by a...

A Sambar Day for the Inherited 10-5

sambar stag has always been my favorite grip material since the early 1980s when new sets were $35 from Melvin Tyler. Luckily I still have most of them. I have never put any oil on them ever, but I live in pretty much great climate.

    Climate Activists...

I still have a dog sled and Eskimo clothes covered with spider webs in my back shed I bought in the 1970s when these same geniuses said we would be experiencing an ice age right now.

    Some stocks by schofieldkid81

Hugh’s handle was Gatorbaiter on this forum. After he died his sons sold many of his very collectible Colt SAAs on Colt Forum. Hugh left his collection in really good hands. His grip repair was phenomenal. He sent me extensive directions on how to sand and oil grips which I did a couple times...

    Some stocks by schofieldkid81

Great older thread. I found a bunch of $3 grips in a gun shop junk box including a Farrants and also a Hurst pairs. Then there were those butchered cokes that used to look like these beat up K frames there. The late Hugh Clark who was a member here under a name I forgot rebordered, recheckered...

    Info needed on 24-3 box

How did you get that info from the label? I will dig out the box for my four incher and see what day in 1983 it was made, or shipped? A very desirable gun from 80s. I saw the Skeeter Skelton 1983 Shooting Times article about these guns and ordered one in the Shotgun News from a dealer...

    1917-Colt or S&W

I think it’s a Colt, too. Thankfully by the late 60-early 70s when I went to school I could freely be left handed. Us left handers are the last discriminated group in America. Where’s OUR reparations? How about a free Colt SAA for each of us? A gun actually designed better for left hand use...
