I have a 686-1 that I bought new many years ago. I had my local gunshop order it for me. I have read many posts about the "Modified" 686s with an M stamped above the 686. I have a 4" square butt model 547 that one source told me was made in 1977. I would like to see if anyone can verify that date. I got it in the 1980's so I'm not even sure the 547 was being made in 1977. Nay help will be appreciated.
