I thought the difference between a K 22 Masterpiece and a K 22 Combat Masterpiece was the barrel length 6" for the MP and 4" for the CMP? Is that correct?

I just pick up five old S&W boxes. One of them is a gold K22 box in quite good condition except for the 70 some odd year old "scotch" tape on one side and across the bottom. Any ideas how to remove this stuff without damaging the box? Thank you Terry
