Difference between models 17 and 18

I thought the difference between a K 22 Masterpiece and a K 22 Combat Masterpiece was the barrel length 6" for the MP and 4" for the CMP? Is that correct?

    anyone here offer recheckering service?

I have a set of "K frame, relieved, square butt, diamond centered, target" stocks, that would benefit from being recheckered. Certainly not looking for a presentation grade end product. If anyone is interested in taking on this project let me know. Thanks for your consideration. Terry

Coup de grace of my search for my White Whale

My multidecade search for the right NT-430 .44 magnum (pre-29) is over. I recently found a beautiful two owner birth year gun at a local gun show. The letter of authenticity shows it shipped on February 14, 1957, 19 days from being a birthday gun. The exact history of this gun over the next 68...

    looking for an NT-430 advertisement

Gentlemen, I'm currently looking for one last advertisement to complete my NT-430 display. I have been able to find originals of nearly all of them except this one. I have looked high, I've looked low, I've looked between high and low with no luck. At this point I'm willing to settle for a good...

    Ode to the common gun

I would like to celebrate the common gun. This Smith & Wesson .38 S&W Double Action 4th model Top Break shipped in 1896. This fine little gun is nickel plated, 3 ¼ barrel, black hard rubber stocks. Nothing exciting, one of a couple hundred thousand made, sold and used. As far as I know it was...

Paying Homage to the lowly beat cop

To the men and women that went to work each day to protect and assist anyone and everyone in their response area. Even in to the mid-20th century a lot of these people had to supply some or all of their own gear, including side arm, holster etc. They were paid a relatively low wage with minimal...

    Guns with presentation cases?

How did guns ship with presentation cases? Specifically, the pre 29 with the blue/black satin lined cases. Did the gun ship in the case or did it ship in a separate box? I have read that the 29's etc that shipped with the mahogany cases came in an unmarked blue box in a specifically designed...

This morning, I may have found my holy grail gun. Two owners, pre-29, in the original case with original tools. In the box is the information about the original owner. tape removal from boxes

I just pick up five old S&W boxes. One of them is a gold K22 box in quite good condition except for the 70 some odd year old "scotch" tape on one side and across the bottom. Any ideas how to remove this stuff without damaging the box? Thank you Terry

    38 M&P box question

Which style of box would a 1949 vintage .38 special M&P come in, the blue box with an end label marked "Military 38 Police" stamped "patented Dec 28, 1920", or the "gold box with Military & Police Revolver" embossed in blue on the lid? As always thank you for your input and information Terry

38 S&W double Action top break fourth model

Just picked up my first S&W top break. Appears to be a 38 top break fourth model serial # 329225. Guessing 1895-1909 period. My questions is, what were they shipped with? Fixed sight so no SAT, cleaning rod, mop, brush, what paperwork? My search has been fruitless. Thank You, Terry
