In our annual memory of Armistist day...

In Flanders Fields, the poppies grow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved...

    Interesting photo

Took a buddy to the range today. He had never shot a .44 Magnum. So I took my Mountain Gun and shot off a few rounds to show him how to let your arms act like a pivot instead of locking your elbows and absorbing all the recoil. He took a pic of the fireball coming out of the muzzle and the...

Any body mix different lots of the same powder

I am having a rousing discussion with a close reloading friend. He thinks that mixing 2 different lots of the SAME BRAND POWDER is ok and safe. For example mixing 2 different cans of Unique with different lot numbers. In particular we are talking rifle loads. Specifically FMJ and match grade...

Why does loading LSWC in .44 Mag go beyond SAAMI max. length?

A buddy and I partnered up on a set of Lyman 429421 Keith LSWC dies. We played around with the lead alloy mixture and cast a few hundred that run between 245 grains and 247 grains. We sized them and coated them and was setting up my Dillon 550 to start cranking out rounds. I sat up the dies...

End of a different kinda of relationship

Bob was my Dad's best friend. They met when Dad began his last job in 1966 and Bob was a Salesman for a similar Pharmaceutical firm. They weren't competitors, but the atmosphere of the time, all the Pharm Reps had kinda of a fraternity. We lived within a mile of each over and Bob was the...

    Interesting ammo

Going through stuff to be moved and came across 2 boxes of Rem .357 Mag 158gr FMJ! I've seen 130 gr FMJ by Winchester but never any 158 grain, so I bought these in the early 80's at a small gun shop. The owner had marked them down to a give away price. I asked why and he told me that the...

    Why do most 6" M27's have Patridge's?

I've never understood this. The Baughman ramp style was the dominant type in the 50's thru the 80's, but yet the Patridge was standard on only the M17 and M27. Most 6" M27"s have Patridge target style, but everyone I've talked to would have preferred a red ramp Baughman style.
