The ugliest gun on the face of the earth...

I was musing today on what gun I would pick as the world's ugliest. My vote would have to go to the Japanese type 94 Nambu pistol, made during WWII. Not only ugly but dangerous in that it could be fired just by pressing the visible sear on its left side. I have one in my collection as a...

Time to air out the rare Etherium revolver again...

It's time to take out the ultra-rare Etherium revolver from its vault and give it a thorough inspection. I take it out once a year to play with it for a while. It was a top-secret project at S&W to produce the world's lightest handgun - they succeeded beyond their estimates. Turned out that...

    Wyatt Earp and his brothers...

Thought I'd pass along these photos that rest in the old county courthouse in Tombstone, Arizona. These are actual photographs taken of Wyatt and his brothers around the time of the OK corral fracas. A different time... John (Click for larger image)

    Not just a Model 10...

I was wandering through an antique store as I sometimes do, when I saw this boxed Smith & Wesson revolver displayed on a table in its opened original box. It was bound with a plastic tie to prevent cocking. As I inspected the obvious Model 10, it was clear that this gun was factory new in...

This cherry 27-2 3 1/2" was easy to find and easy to afford...

One of the benefits of being a seasoned citizen is that you come from an era when classic Smiths were available at what today would be close-out sale prices! ;) John

10-shot "Grab and go" Remington 870!

A number of years ago I put together a 12-gauge Model 870 that I could grab quickly to address extreme self-defense situations. Rounds on board: 10 Lighting for dark or dim environments: on the charging grip with lights-out cap. Quick sighting: prominent front sight. Reliability...

    A hard-to-find as-issued relic of WWII..

(Click for larger image) As many of you know, finding an older U.S military firearm in original condition is really hard in these days. Most have switched-out parts either through arsenal upgrading or by individual altering. It's rare to find one that is just as issued originally. This...

    Lest we forget...

Last night my wife approached me with a kiss and said that Memorial Day is in my honor, since I am a veteran. I told her that this holiday is not for me - it's for the fallen, who gave their lives for our country. I'm surprised that she did not know the difference between Memorial Day and...

    My "repel boarders" gun

(Click for larger image) Who knows? If the "Red Dawn" scenario ever comes to pass, I would use this piece as my preferred gun for repelling boarders. Compact. Maneuverable. Accurate. Easily available ammo. Equipped for night usage. Fast red dot sight. What's yours? John

    I apologize!

My friends, I sincerely apologize for my recent absence from the forum. My computer went belly up, and I am wrestling with a new one in spite of the fact that all my passwords are now sadly kaput. Bear with me - hope to be back in action soon. Best to all, John PS - the news of my demise...

    Scenic clouds

In Arizona, opportunities for scenic views abound. I took this view of Pinnacle Peak near Phoenix when the clouds were truly stunning. I also took this shot of clouds gathering over the southern road to Tombstone. Amazing vista. John
