    who made these grips

A pair of K-square butt grips showed up at a local gun show today and I was asked to identify what they fit and who made them. At first they looked big enough to fit a SB N-frame but no, they fit a SQ K/L frame. I have no clue who made them ... any help from the experts here? Russ

    model 39-2 magazines

Two questions on a Model 39-2 . . . (1) at approx what serial number (or date) did the Model 39-2 follower change from the metal (figure 8) to the plastic or, said another way, should s/n A422344 have the metal or plastic? (2) did S&W ever produce a "parkerized" 39-2 magazine as shown on the...

Identify custom grip maker and type wood

Help me identify the maker of these grips and the type of wood they are made from. They are very well made and have a "Roper-like" appearance. At first glance they appear to be walnut but the wood is softer and much lighter in weight than I would expect from walnut. They cover the front and...

how fragile is the circa 1995 matte blue finish from the PC?

A friend recently acquired a 3” Model PC-13 (model 13-4) and needs to clean up some spots on the finish. My initial reaction was to have him soak with Kroil followed with a light touch using bronze wool soaked in Kroil . . . but I hesitate to recommend that not knowing if it will leave...

    .455 Hand Ejector 1st Model (Triple Lock) s/n 1911

This past weekend I attended a local auction and became curator of a .455 Hand Ejector 1st Model (Triple Lock). Based on Hondo44’s research, it is one of the approximately 5800 produced in 1914-1915 under contract for the British government. Although 105 years old and having survived service...

    Identify Proof Mark

A friend sent me this picture of a Model 10-8 (circa 1983) that is clearly marked by the importer (don't recall which one) and with proof marks on the frame and barrel that I can't identify. If needed I can have him bring it over and we can take better, close-up pictures. Thanks, Russ

    4513TSW correct magazine

Which of the two magazines pictured below is the correct magazine for an early (non-rail) 4513TSW? - Both hold 6 rounds, are marked ES1, and seem to fit the 4513TSW - Neither has the additional pressed indentations at the lips designed for the CS-45 - Shape of the base plates is very...

    Questions about a 4513TSW

I’m a relative novice when it comes to 3rd generation semi-autos so it’s not surprising I have a few questions about this 4513TSW I picked up yesterday. 1) The serial number is MSF6531 but I don’t see any MXX s/n prefixes listed in the SCSW 4th edition. Is there anything special about the MSF...

    Fiocchi 380 Lungo

Question . . . is Italian-made Fiocchi 380 Lungo ammunition the same as .38 Long Colt? Went to an auction today and bought some "Cal. 380 LUNGO" which was sold as .38 Long Colt . . . but I'm having my doubts. I put a caliper to the two rounds . . . the case diameter is within production...
