    1955 Terrier

Amazing what just a little Mothers Mag and a few minutes can do. Got this for a decent price with a nice little carved leather holster. Pretty scratched up but nothing too severe so I took a chance.

    N frame designation

When did Smith and Wesson officially start using the N frame description? I said 1907 with the triple lock but was informed that the designation is a retroactive one and there are no pre-war N frames. Not sure Facebook is the best spot to get accurate info all the time! 😵‍💫

    2nd model .44 special

Just bought this 5 inch .44 from 1935. Not perfect, but heck, neither am I !! What is the finish? Not the blue I would expect.

    Too close for comfort

I bought a prewar 38-44 that was in great shape but with some so-so grips. I found, with the help of members here, Curtis Harlow to refinish them. I got a set of grips that had the appropriate silver medallions and another set of medallions and sent both grips to him. He made the 38-44 grips...

What type of wood is this grip?

Not sure what type of wood this is. The grips may be swapped out to another gun, depending on what wood it is identified as. Goncalo alves perhaps? Thanks, as always

    Pre war .38/44

I have always wanted a .38/44, and for a lark I bid on one on GB, not expecting to win. But I did. 1936 vintage, reblued at factory in 1946, and sold originally to the Dante, Virginia, Police Dept. Not perfect, but it takes one off the bucket list . When I went to pick it up, the salesman...

    What am I missing?

The 'Bible' says a model 22 in Excellent condition is worth $5500, while an ANIB is worth $7,000. There is a Model 22 from 1959 that falls in between those two classifications as I see it, but with a starting bid of $5500 and a BIN of $6,000 there were no takers. Any idea what I might be...

    52-2 question

I just bought a pre-model #39, a run of the mill 59, and a nice 52-2. The 39 and 59 are the typical SA/DA with the decocker. The 52-2 is modified to shoot S.A. only, which I expected, but the decocker does not seem to work as expected in that no matter which position the lever is in, the hammer...

    Did I miss something?

Saw a gun that sold for $1200 marked as a pre-27. Barrel marked 38 special, top strap not checkered and pretty sure the serial number may have been of the wrong era. Did they make any such gun in 38 special as a pre-27??

    Performance Center .45

I had to requalify for my LEOSA certification today. LEOSA allows retired law enforcement officers.to carry on all 50 states of you qualify as n year. Department qualification course is a 250 score max. Firing the gun for the first time for score, I shot a 244. Not bad for an old man! I had a...

    Opinion on 439

I do own on Smith semi, a 39-2, but ran into a 439 at my LGS today. It is in 98% condition, with 2 extra mags, no box, for $425. I can probably get it for less, but I am not sure how the 439 stacks up to the 39-2. What are the improvements for 39 to 439? Is $425 a good price? I sort of like...
