Arre these N frame grips Walnut?

A guy I met at the range gave me a bag of grips (free). I was refinishing them then off to auction. These N frame black washers, look like walnut to me? And here is what the rest look like, minus a set of K/L frames I already sold. I told him I couldn't take them, but he insisted.

Price check M 36 no dash

Found a mint blue M-36 with 2 inch barrel, and what I know: - no box or papers, just the revolver - square butt - non-diamond grips, but black washers numbered to the gun - pinned obviously - has been fired, but you can't tell. - just the very faintest of a turn line and that is the only mark on...

    Experience using Bowan Classic Arms?

I have a 629-3 that needs the throats enlarged. One option is to use BCA (Bowen Classic Arms) to enlarge the throats on a S&W SS cylinder. Anyone have any throats done by BCA on their SS S&W? I have used a reamer to cut the throats on my Ruger Blackhawks with good success, but don't know how...

Tricks for measuring groove diameter for S&W

Just interested in knowing what you have found most beneficial in measuring the groove diameter of a slug from a S&W revolver with the 5 lands and grooves pattern. I have no problem using a 0-1" mic (capable of measuring 0.0001") and successfully measure slugs from a 6 lands and grooves...

    M17-3 price check

A friend has a really nice M 17-3 with TS, TT, TH 6" barrel. No box, tools or papers. The gun hasn't been fired much, and might be as good at 95%. I'm not so good on grading to percentage, so it might be a little less. What are these selling for in your area in today's market?

    L Frame torture test

In this video they reduced charges until they stuck a bullet in the barrel. Then they fired 2 more further reduced loads. So now there are 3 bullets in the barrel. The last step is to fire a full power round. I wouldn't have believed the cylinder didn't come apart, but the only damage was...

Experience with raising dents in stocks?

Anyone that can tell me about their experience in raising dents in wood using moisture and heat? I have a set of stock with some dents that need to be raised. From what I heard a long time ago, a wet towel and an iron do it. I had a shotgun forearm that needed some raised but an all day...

    "R" stamp on cylinder

I have a Model 66 no dash that has an R stamped on the cylinder in addition to the V for stainless steel. Is it as logical as the R indicates the cylinder was "Repaired" by S&W at some time in the past?

S&W Model 66 no dash, correct grips?

I just acquired a 4 inch barrel Model 66 no dash. It is an early model with the SS rear sight. It was wearing a set of Pachmayrs on it. I would like to put the correct set of grips on it, that it came with. If I put on target grips, would they be the football cutout version? I think it is...

    New to me, Model 19-4

I tend to favor N and L frames, but I got interested in a Model 19. I found one on GunBroker. It isn't in the condition I normally prefer, but it would give me a chance to do a few things I might not do if it were nicer. So here is my Model 19 after I switched the hammer and trigger over to...

I have a 586 and a 686, both no dash that have not been back to the factory for the M stamp modification. Just interested in the problem this modification corrects, and what they do to correct the issue. Anyone know who pays the shipping to the factory and return?
