Copper bullets, so far they're fine.

Just bagged a decent deer tonight. This is the forth one on in a row with copper bullets. I haven't had any problems whatsoever, in fact the bullet performance has been outstanding. This is with a 30-06, 150 grain copper bullet, loaded, Hodgdons 4350, what on paper should be 2900 fps, slightly...

I'd like to see some favorite deer rifles

This is mine- It's a BSA Majestic Featherweight, 30-06. It's one of the early controlled feed versions, probably late 50s. It's a very lightweight sleek well made all walnut and metal gun. It has several weight saving modifications like hollowed out stock cavities, cutouts areas in the action...

    Copper bullet surprise

I have been worried about switching to copper bullets. I shot just my second deer with them yesterday. It performed better than I hoped. I used 51 grains of Varget under a 150 grain federal HP copper bullet in a 30-06. The book says 2500FPS, so a pretty mild load. Which checks out with mild...

    CZ 512, 22 WMR

I had a successful hunt tonight, and I have to tout this great gun. The CZ 512 and the 22 mag- it is a great utility gun combo! I have been taking pigs with it for a couple months, it has not let me down. And, it is as handy as it gets. I hit this sow in the shoulder and it really slowed her...

H4350, Copper Bullets, 30-06, good results

I'm putting this post in reloading because the critical question for me was how would copper bullets work on a deer. I made the switch this year to copper bullets. I was naturally a little nervous: Would they expand well, would the deer go down quickly, etc...? I didn't want a real hot load. I...

    Speed six: new acquisition

I recently ran across this early Speed-Six in a pawn shop. It was priced right, I didn't hesitate. This gun has a lot going for it for woods carry. It's stout but not too stout. The rounded grips are comfortable to carry, in and out of cars etc..., it's pretty unobtrusive, 4". It shoots 38...

    Ruger Speed -Six, measurement ?

I need to replace a missing alignment pin (in the grip frame, for the grips) and I wonder if anyone has a speed six handy and could mic that pin diameter. This is an early 150- series gun, I don't know if that matters but that is the case. I am grateful for any help.

    WTB- Grips- found

I would like to find a set of factory wooden grips for a 1974 Ruger Speed Six with the early original low frame type (first style only on 150- sixes, 1972-1974). Worn grips are acceptable.

    32-20 hand ejector (target?)

I briefly examined an old k frame revolver in 32 W.C.F. yesterday. Considering the poor condition and how rare a factory installation of target sights on a 32-20 would probably be, I discounted it as an aftermarket job. But, it started to haunt me as a drove away, it was only $350 and the rear...

Shooting CZ 512 carbine in 22 WMR

I took my new Cz 512 carbine out for a test drive. I am impressed. I shot about fifty rounds of 2 brands, Armscor and Aguilla, just plinking. Zero malfunctions. Considering it's plastic and aluminum, the fit and finish is good, in a tidy and utilitarian way. It seems to have very well...

    Anyone have Star 22lr pistols?

This pistol is growing on me. It's a Model FM, with a 4" square barrel, and a 10 shot clip. I bought it on a whim, it was cheap. Turns out it's a super fun plinker! Accurate. Reliable with all the ammunitions I've tried so far, mini-mag and auto-match. Nice solid heavy feeling. Well built, good...

Loads: federal 150 grain copper HP 30cal?

I have some 30 cal 150 grain copper HP bullets, made by federal. These are the same bullets Federal uses in their 150 grain power shock ammo, both 308 and 30-06 (they have no grooves and are flat based). I am planning to load them up for my 30-06 for this season. I have h4350 and Varget on hand...
